Chapter 33BristolI stayed three days in Bristol. There were two meetings
at the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and in addition to some
lectures, a considerable amount of time was spent with the archaeological
faculty and their technicians.
When I’d delivered the artefacts, the first day had
been spent closeted with Professor Whittaker, the head of the faculty.
Predictably, he had exhibited a healthy dose of scepticism. However, he’d
now taken up the cause with a passion, and chosen several reliable people to
help evaluate the findings. Six weeks later, we all got together.
“We’ve catalogued the pieces you provided, Matt.
Here’s a list of the fourteen items.” Professor Whittaker pushed a sheet
of paper across the desk.
