Chapter 58BristolThe motor cruiser eased from the mooring in the Floating Harbour and made its way into the Cumberland Basin. It idled through the swing bridges at the entrance before entering the Avon River. Its burbling engines echoed as the sides of the gorge steepened and we passed under the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It was my belief the less time we travelled by road, the greater our chances were of being undetected. We had been fortunate. The manager had a friend with a large sea-going motor cruiser. It had been relatively easy to slip out of the hotel separately and gather at the marina.
