The days that ensued after the amusement park with Nick felt remarkable, even though nothing too intimate had happened between us. It wasn’t like I wanted to rush things or force something we weren’t ready for. I liked the way things were moving slowly between us, like we were taking our time to figure it all out instead of jumping headfirst into something we couldn’t handle. But still, every time I thought about the way he had kissed me, how his hands had held me so close, like he was scared to let go, it was hard not to want more of him. And I knew he felt the same way too because I could see it every time he looked at me. But neither of us said anything about it. I guess we were both too scared to mess it up. Or perhaps we both wanted it to last, so we weren’t willing to risk breaking
