Chapter 1Rachel Vidal’s keys were in her hands, poised above her apartment door, as she felt the sting of tears on her face. Her vision became cloudy as she whimpered out a cry. She tried to use the back of her palm to wipe her face. Everything felt so loud, including her muffled sobs, and she was sure her neighbors were watching her breakdown from their peepholes. “s**t, s**t, shit.” Rachel put her head against the door when she failed to find the right key on her ring. “I give up.” With a wave, she let the sorrow from her breakup finally hit her. Her on-again, off-again relationship with a girl had finally ended in the off-again mode for good. She’d cheated. Made a fool out of Rachel in the process.
