Chapter 2Fifteen minutes later, Nessa led Rachel into her condo along the Parkdale neighborhood of Toronto. While this place, and the neighborhood which surrounded it, was stunning—Rachel knew that this wasn’t Nessa’s only place. She had numerous condos and apartments scattered across at least three countries, mostly so she could compete with her parents with stamps on her own passport. “This place,” she said as they stepped inside. “This one is truly my pride and joy.” “I can’t believe that when you still have a place in Paris.” “Ah, but I don’t own it! And I bought this condo before it was even built. Off the blueprints. Then I’ve been here for every new edition, every new faucet, paint color, everything. It is so completely my own. Even if some of that is a little out of date now.”
