Rachel Vidal glanced up at the television screen in the waiting room of the busy Toronto hospital. Over the shuffle of the nurses’ shoes and the coughs of other patients, a television screen buzzed with life. A woman with fine features spoke into a mic on the screen. She had light brown hair coiffed at the shoulders and wispy bangs framed her heart-shaped face. Her lips were red, her eyes immaculately lined, and she was dressed in the consummate professional attire that would go along with being a news caster. She was the reporter for the local Canadian news station’s investigation into a political issue.
