Chapter 3“So glad you could make it,” Jordana said, extending her hand. “Thank you for having me.” Rachel took Jordana’s palm and allowed the gesture of good will to linger into something more. Jordana’s tone had been strong, firm, and her grip was much the same. It was all so different than the woman who had lain in bed with her the morning of their last day of school, newly eighteen, and newly ready to start their lives. “Can I offer you anything before we start?” Jordana said as she quickly withdrew her hand. She ran her palm down her skirt and gestured behind her to where beverages were kept.
