Chapter 1Rachel Vidal shuddered as sweat rolled down her neck and onto her spine. She leaned forward on the exercise bike as Topaz, the stunning instructor with a penchant for speed in both her pedals and her mouth, shouted to the group to keep up all their hard-won efforts.
“I know it’s tough,” she said, her breath ragged as she pedaled her own stationary bike at the front of the room. “But we’re almost there. Get ready to cheer out.”
The group barely made any noise. Rachel wished she could pat Topaz on the back, just to keep her spirits up, but that was unnecessary. She was already unyielding. Restless.
