Chapter 4 Love Struck

1056 Words
One evening, while we sat by the fire, Jason took out a small velvet box from his pocket. My heart skipped a beat as he opened it to reveal a dainty necklace with a single diamond pendant that reflected the flickering light. "I wanted to give you something to remind you of our journey," he explained, his voice firm but full of emotion. "This diamond represents the strength and beauty of our love, forged under pressure and shining brightly." Thanks, Jason," I mumbled, feeling a knot in my throat creep up as I spoke gently. "It is perfect." His lips pressed gently against mine, and then he let go. "No, Lila, you are perfect."Jason's character development included attending therapy sessions and seeking healthy ways to deal with stress. We had a wonderful understanding of each other, and I was always there for him, cheering him on in victories and supporting him through losses. Our love, which he sometimes despised, helped him overcome his inner demons and strive to be a better person in the future. Boys are so upfront; I loved it when he said 'I don't think I'll ever tired of dancing with you.' I smiled and let my head rest on his chest. "And I will never cease to love you." In public, we appeared to be a happy family, with genuine affection for one another. Jason usually placed his arm around me at social visits and work functions, symbolising his love for me. We were secretive till we became more than awkward, giggling and speaking in soft voices about even a bar of soap. One day, we both went to a very glamorous dinner party, and then, very tired but very fulfilled, we got back home. It was only when we were standing in the hotel’s hall, still in our formal dresses, that Jason wrapped his arms around me and began to sway in a dancing motion to the music that played in our heads later. We danced and held each other close until we were outside the door of our bedroom at home now that we’re married. I and Jason had overcome the storms in our past relationship, and I felt we were more in love than we used to be. However, the journey was another one, and we said no to hopelessness and committed ourselves to fighting it out to the end because you and I are stronger together. That rainy afternoon, to be exact, broke the silence that we had fostered for a considerable amount of time. Details: I had declared lunchtime when the bell sounded since I was in the kitchen making food for myself on a Saturday afternoon. Although Jason wasn't at work that day, I can hear him at the music studio strumming his guitar. Assuming it was a neighbour or a delivery man, I took out a towel and used it to dry my hands before heading to the door and opening it. However, I was forced to sit across from a woman whose appearance made me believe she was related. She has hair. Her hair was unkempt, her eyes were swollen, and she didn't appear to have slept well the night before. A toddler stood next to her, holding her hand and looked at me with huge, innocent eyes. "Hey… "May I help you?" I said it politely, worried that the man could pose a threat to my life. They both gave me matching stares. ' The woman straightened her shoulders and grinned.' "I'm Vanessa," she answered, her voice slightly uncertain. "Last but not least, I have Nathan here, Jason's son.] Words could not have been spoken more bluntly, and it felt like a slap in the face. The shock knocked the wind out of me, and I had to grab on to the door frame for support. I didn't have time to respond when Jason approached from behind, focused on the disturbance I was making. When he noticed Vanessa and the child, he came to a complete pause. "Is Vanessa here?" What are you doing here, guy? The tone of his speech indicated surprise and confusion. Vanessa quickly passed me, pressing close to me and staring into Jason's eyes. "Jason, I need to tell you something about your son, Nathan. He needs a father, and I have something to tell you. Jason's face paled, and he moved his eyes to me, his look a mix of shame and fear. I could see the cranks in his brain turning as the implications of what she was saying dawned on him. I paused for a moment to process what was just said. "Come inside," Jason directed after minutes of quiet tension. Staring at her through the windows. People also frequently use terms such as, "There is still a lot to discuss." The words she said were too heavy for me to take, and I felt bad for Vanessa. She, like us, is a product of the circumstances that led to her current condition. Nonetheless, their actions left me feeling both disturbed and deceived. He had no smile on his face as I observed him to determine his response. "What do you need from us?" I inquired, my voice cracking. Vanessa looked at me with begging eyes and said, "I can't go on anymore. Nathan needs his father, and I can't raise him alone. We need you, me. No money or anything; just let Jason be a part of Nathan's life." There was silence again in the room, and Jason's eyes blinked with misery and remorse, giving me an intense pain that confused me. But, despite everything, I adored him, and I knew this was our time. Jason was having trouble speaking at the moment. "We'll work things out, Vanessa. But we need to take our time. Lila and I must sit down and consider all of this to determine what is best for all parties involved." Vanessa nodded her head, tears welling in her eyes. "Thank you, Jason. "That's all I want." Nathan jumped up from his chair and looked at Jason with wide doe eyes, like a newborn child. “Oh my God! "Are you really my father?" he asked slowly. Jason bent down to the boy's height with a compassionate expression. "Yes, Nathan." I am your father. I promise we'll become better friends."
