Where are my diamonds?

1267 Words
When Ana stepped out of her apartment, there was a taxi on the streets. They were on strike. She forgot to consider that shortcoming, she had to walk to the train station which was a bit far. At the train station, there were a lot of people because of the taxi strike, it was difficult for her to get on board. Ana spent about half an hour getting in. The distance from the station to Xung Mansion was far and she had to walk the rest of the way, to make matters worse the rain began to pour so heavily just a few blocks from the station. She was running late and waiting out the rain was not an option. She ran towards the Xungs mansion in the rain. Gloria didn't get close to the telephone when she saw Ana approaching the front door through the widow. Ana was in the rain and running towards the main building. Poor child, she was caught up in the rain. Gloria felt sorry for her. She quickly rushed to the door to let her in. “Come in dear, this way, and step gently” Gloria ushered Ana in. Ana hurried in and she was shocked by the rain and dripping water, from her hair to her feet. “Poor child, you got caught up in the rain” “Yes, Mrs Lim, it's a rainy day” “Sure is_ help wait let me get you a towel” “No, please I would be fine” she objects, not wanting to waste more time. “No, child, look at you, you need to dry up or you will be sick” she insisted and went for the towel. Ana waited and took the time to check how wet she was soaked. Gloria came back with a towel that could serve as both a towel and a cover. “Thank you, you are too kind” she was grateful, Gloria had always been kind to her whenever Ana came by and would always offer her cookies, Gloria made the best cookies. “She is here,” Gloria quickly announced for all to hear, as they both made an entrance to where others were waiting in the large sitting room. Peter looked and saw, a figure wrapped up in a white towel, shivering as she followed Gloria behind. “What an entrance” he muttered in anger. To think the person they have been waiting for finally came and showed up like that. “I'm sorry I'm late. It wasn't intentional” Ana quickly apologized sensing the tension in the air. “You are sorry! You keep us waiting! And all you say is you are sorry! I demand an explanation of what f*****g kept you” Peter demanded. “The city taxi strike, and the station to the mansion is a long walk” she came up with a quick explanation for the angry Mr Peter. He was looking a bit different from when she saw him at the Funeral. She couldn't stop staring at him from a distance. He looked so sharp him his all black morning tuxedo and even though he was grieving he looked hot to her. Right now he looked Fine but angry to appeal to her. “Poor people, they are, too much trouble” Stella mocked Ana's explanation. “I'm sorry, it wasn't intentional” Ana apologized again. “Pleasants_ difficult people to deal with” Stella was disgusted at Ana, appearance and excuses. “Barrister Mark, can you please, start with the reading already, the air here is becoming so unclean” Peter demanded of Mark. “Fine, Miss Scott, I'm sorry you had a hard time coming here, please have a seat” Mark offered the still-striving Ana. “No, is okay I would be okay standing” Ana decided to stand with the other domestic staff. “If you insist,” Mark said, reaching out to his briefcase, open it and bring out the peppers. “Li Xiang's last will” Mark began to read, putting the room in silent and at attention. “Signed on the 11th day of July 2019” extracts two weeks before Papa Li's death. “ To all my domestic staff, they all remain employees, they all remain as workers here in the mansion, till they resign or reach retirement. I leave them two million each” Marked raises his head to see the hidden look of relief and excitement in the faces of the staff. “This means that none of the domestic staff here can be fired unjustly by whoever ends up as their new boss,” Mark explained. Peter has no such intention, he was fine with the staff as long as they did their job right. He wished Mark could skip all that irrelevant part and get to the part, the part he wanted to hear. “To my good friend and family Lawyer, barrister Mark, I leave to you. my vacation home on the island. You are the only one who costs it, now you can have it, it suits you” Barrister Mark. smiled and remembered how Papa Li gifted the house to him as wife for their honeymoon and he had always asked him to let them use it again on every of their anniversary. “To Mrs. Gloria Lim” Gloria smiled at the mention of her name. She had come a long way with Papa Li and the Xung family. “Gloria, I remember how Madeline brought you home to this mansion as a nanny to our boy Ned, you were so sweet to my boy and even to my grandson Peter when he was born. When you hear this, it means I have gone to be with Madaline, my dear wife, and Ned, our boy.” Peter reached out to his mother's hand and squeezed to console her at the mention of his father and Stella's late husband. Stella immediately faked a sad face in response. “Continue to take care of our grandboy Peter. We both know he can be naughty and stupid but can be good when pointed in the right direction. He would come around, do not give up on him. "The whole house laughed, Papa Li still had a way of making jokes even when he was gone. Gloria laughed and cleaned up the tears in her eyes. “To Gloria, leave to you two of my mansions in the countryside and a billion, whatever I have given you, can't be compared to the love you have shown this family in your 50 years of service” At this point Gloria was weeping in gratitude and memories she had, had with the Xung. Ana, who was standing next to her, held her together to comfort her. “To my one and only daughter-in-law. Stella Xung” Finally it was her turn, and she couldn't wait to hear what she got. “I leave you, the other house in the city, you already live there anyway. Now it's yours.” Stella faked a smile when Pater smiled at her in celebration. It wasn't what she was expecting; she wanted the diamonds, the emeralds. Where are they? old man! Give them to me! Stop playing games! She almost yelled out for all to hear but controlled herself. “You, Stella Xung would remain the operational manager of the Xung fashion line, you are doing great at it already” Mark Continued reading. “Where are my diamonds?” Stella screamed in her head.
