Please Help Me!

Erika’s POV My body gave way, and as the sudden downpour of rain flooded the streets. It drenched me to the bone but I forgot to care. I let it drown my tears. It was easier to cry that way and go unnoticed. I was so tired of wandering to nowhere, so I found a place to sit and cry more, then dwell on everything that had led me to this point. Apparently, I was switched at birth, and it was just me and my fake parents. They showered me with love and care for the first fifteen years of my life. I was spoiled and well taken care of, I never had to lift a finger, not until one of the worst days of my life approached me early. Somehow, they discovered that I wasn't their daughter, and their real daughter showed up at the front door. It wasn't hard to believe her, because she looked just like mom. I looked nothing like mom. Absolutely nothing. A test and investigations were carried out and findings led them to discover who my parents were, and this only angered them. Their former maid. Yes, I am the daughter of their former maid, the same maid my fake father had been lusting after, but she rejected him for the gardener. My now fake parents understood each other, a wife dealing with her promiscuous husband whom she loves and her husband coming back to her bed every night after having fun with little girls almost everyday. The issue was, he was so invested in this new maid, and he tried severally to drag her to his bed, all to no avail. When he found out she was pregnant for the gardener, the same time his wife was pregnant, he drove her away. Somehow, the two mothers birthed the same day and gave birth to me and Maddy. That's how life took a different turn for me and I knew it the minute she appeared at the doorstep that night. My real mother was dead and my biological father, very much unstable so they retained me, but maybe they should've let me go. Maybe my life would've been much better. It's crazy how your lovely parents can hate you in the span of forty eight hours. Things shifted instantly. Apparently I reminded both of them of my mother. My fake mother, hating on the maid that stole her husband's heart for months and my fake father, hating on the only lowly maid that refused to let him drive his balls deep inside of her. I was a steady reminder and their cruelty improved as the years ran by, up till this moment. I'm twenty one now and still, nothing has changed. The rain finally came to a halt and I waited till my clothes dried to a reasonable degree in the dead of the night before I started heading back. I wanted more than anything to stay back but I had no choice. I wore a simple black dress and my slippers, that's all I came out with. My hair was soaked to the brim but after a while walking, the hairs at the back of my neck stood. The air was unfamiliar and unwelcoming and I instantly knew something was wrong as a couple of shadows fell on me. My eyes widened in fear as I turned around to check and to my utter dismay, they were actually coming after me. A couple of men wearing masks and all black. I picked up pace and began to run faster than I've ever had to do in my entire life, stumbling and hitting different corners I didn't see earlier. My fear heightened, the thought of what these men would do to me if they caught me. I ran blindly, panting, even though I was so tired and I could barely breathe. I just knew I had to run. I made a turn, not even seeing what was in front of me and I ran into a wall. A warm, moving wall. I halted, distraught and apologizing before I even looked up but when I did, I stilled. A figure, in black, even scarier than the men I was running from but somehow, my heart rate steadied. I could only see his eyes, and a manly scent I had never smelled in my life before wafted into my nostrils, and I immediately knew it would make a mark in my memory. My brain told me to keep running, but my heart suddenly felt stupidly safe. It was a safe distance between me and the men but I still had to keep running. This figure was tall, manly and mysterious. He wore a mask and his eyes practically glowed in the dark like that of a cat. Then he pulled me to him by my waist. “Why are you running?” His voice rippled through my being, all the way to my core. It was so sinful I wanted to let out a moan I didn't even know I could muster at this moment of disorientation. Rational thinking came back as goosebumps flooded my body and I began to plead, my voice wavering and my mouth quivering. “Please, please help me. Some men are chasing after me and I need to go back home, please–” He suddenly pushed me aside and ran straight to where I was running from. The men had caught up with me at this point but he was in front of me, shielding me. Then he attacked them head on like it was nothing, with so much skill it was so hot. I was terrified, but I couldn't look away. They ran off after picking themselves up, cursing. Then he walked up to me, panting, and instead of running, I stood there, wanting to be close to him. Before I even knew what was happening, this figure picked me up, threw me on his back like I was a sack of onions and began to take me away. “What are you doing! Let me down! Let me go!” My brain began to work again as I cursed and tried to push him off me. I went all ballistic, scratching him all over. Why was I so stupid? I should've ran off the second I ran into him. “Keep shut and stay quiet.” His voice that turned me on before now sent a bolt of fear to build a mansion in my heart and reside there for the longest time. I began to cry fresh tears, unsure of what would happen to me now. He weaved through several buildings, striding with a strength I didn't know a man could have, with so much grace and poise like a panther, although he carried me face down the whole time. I stopped fighting, hoping that my life wouldn't get worse than it already was. Just when I expected the worst from the situation, he bursted out of a door and I realized that it was my neighbourhood. My heart beat calmed down. Without warning, he dropped me. I was so pissed I kicked him on his knee. He looked down at it and said nothing, only staring. He didn't even flinch, like I had done nothing to him. “You're an asshole.” Then I watched his eyes light up and through his mask, I could tell a stupid amused smile followed suit. I had never fallen in and out of love/ lust so fast for a man in my entire life. He could've brought me here like a normal human would. My breathing finally came back to normal. He was obviously not going to say anything to me so I turned around and made a run for it, running with my full might and never stopping until I reached my gate. I would never try such a stupid thing like this again, ever.
