Since the wedding, she spoke to her mum every week but had declined every invitation to go and visit. She had started her internship with the London zoo in August and had been working non-stop ever since, which gave her a good excuse not to travel to Lancashire. But with Christmas just around the corner, she had no reason not to spend Christmas with them.
She was in her room, packing when a knock sounded at her door. Sophia, her best friend, and roommate walked in. She had no idea why she even bothered knocking; it's not like she ever waited for an invitation.
‘Hey Tory, you done yet?’ she asked, sitting at the end of her bed.
‘Are you in that much of a rush to get rid of me?’ I said with a raised eyebrow.
‘Well, what can I say’ she looked at her with a cheeky grin ‘it’s not always we get to have the house all to ourselves.’
That was true, and she couldn’t blame Sophia. Her and Ben, her boyfriend, lived in shared housing, and having the house all to themselves was the best Christmas gift she could give them. She knew that one of the reasons they hadn’t moved in together was herself. Sophia didn’t want to leave her without a roommate, but she had a suspension that that was just another excuse not to commit too deeply to this relationship.
‘I’ll be leaving in an hour’ she smiled at her best friend who was currently disorganising her suitcase ‘Soph! What are you doing?’ she asked, noticing her pick up the one thing she didn't want her to see.
‘Oh wow!’ she whistled ‘is this new underwear’ her friend commented, picking up one of the new lingerie sets she had purchased on her last shopping. ‘Someone is looking to get laid on this trip.’
‘No! I am going to see my mum’ she told her ‘it’s strictly a family only trip’ she said. More to remind herself than for Soph’s benefit.
‘Mmhhmmm, Not even the sexy stepbrother that has been driving you mad with lust?’ she said, with a knowing smirk on her face.
At that comment, Sebastien's face popped into her head. Since she’d returned, she hadn’t been able to get him out of her head. She couldn’t stand the guy, the way he had spoken about her mum infuriated her, and she wanted nothing to do with him. Even knowing that he was a jerk and didn’t deserve so much prime time-space in her head, that’s precisely what he had received.
From that first night she had spent at the Bowland estate, where he invaded her dreams and destroyed her love of sleep, not a single night had gone by without him showing up. No matter how the dream started, it always ended the same way, with her panting so close to orgasm only to wake up just as she was about to reach the pinnacle of pleasure. Every morning she woke up drenched in sweat and the fluids of her desire. What made the situation worse was when she tried to bring herself to that sweet release, she couldn’t, no matter how much she m*********d, she hadn’t been able to make herself come.
For the past five months, her frustrations had been building up, to the point where she had become snappy. Soph, bless her had taken the brunt of it, so when she explained her problem to her, Soph decided it was the funniest thing she had ever heard. For days after that, she had come home to little gifts on her bed, anything from pleasure enhancing balms to vibrators. Which she admitted she had tried them all out of pure frustration and desperation only to come to the same conclusion.
‘No! Definitely not’ she said, shaking her head ‘he’s a jerk.’
‘So you’ve said repeatedly, almost every day when you came back and at least seven times a day for the past month’ Soph said.
‘Have not!’ she affirmed, looking at her friend in bewilderment.
Soph didn’t say anything else only looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
She blushed as Soph kept staring at her with that annoying spark in her eyes, making her glare back at her. She leaned forward and snatched the lingerie Soph was still holding and placed it in her underwear drawer. She was not going to play this game, not now.
‘Oh come on, Tory, you need to loosen up’ she said ‘ you need to get laid, this piss poor mood of yours is doing you no favours.’
She glared at her friend while she went back to her packing.
‘I don’t know who you are waiting for’ she moaned, more to herself than Tory ‘It’s not like Mr. Right exists, no matter who you lose your virginity to, they will end up breaking your heart’ she complained for the gazillionth time.
This argument between them had been going on forever, to the point that it was more of an ongoing commentary from Soph than an argument. She had come to the realisation that no matter what she said on the subject wouldn’t change her views.
Her status as a virgin hadn’t been so much a choice than a lack of desire for the opposite s*x, as every guy she had dated left her cold. She even assumed that she was gay and when she threw that out there, a friend decided that the only way to know, was to try. She agreed to go to a gay bar where a beautiful woman had taken a fancy to her and when she explained her dilemma she offered to do a test run kiss. That had been that. No matter if it was a man or woman, the problem lay within her, she didn’t have any s****l desire for other people regardless of gender. So to avoid disappointments and heartache, she decided to forgo intimate relationships.
From that time on, she had stopped even trying to date and concentrated on her studies and career plans.
That was all going dandy until Sebastien Campbell decided to show up in her life and mess with her head.
Now she was a pile of unsatisfied s****l desire, which only wants to find relief in one person. So on her last day off, she had gone shopping to buy some last-minute Christmas presents only to find herself in a lingerie store buying five pairs of sexy lingerie, four of which were still neatly packed inside her luggage.
She finished packing and closed her suitcase. Throwing some cosmetics into her overnight bag, she placed the two at the door and turned to start tidying up her room.
With the suitcase gone, Soph had decided to lay down on the bed.
‘Do you have nothing better to do?’ she asked.
‘Not really, Ben won’t be here until 2pm, so I have some time to kill.’ She replied, flicking through the book that has been on her nightstand. ‘I really don’t know how you can read this rubbish.’
‘Because I do, so if you don’t like it, put it down’ she said, making a grab for it.
‘Seriously though, what’s so good about werewolves and vampires?’ she moaned once again.
‘Soph, I need to tidy up so I can leave’ she said.
‘No fun, I tell you’ she grumbled but got up and made her way out of the room.
She spent the next half hour tidying and was just about to remove her phone from charge when her mum called.
‘Hi mum, I’m just about to leave for the train station’ she told her in hopes it would keep the conversation short and sweet.
‘Hi Hun, good I caught you just in time’ she said her cheerful tone. ‘Sebastien had to go to London yesterday for business, and he wrapped up early so Graham had the brilliant idea that you should drive down with them.’
Her heart started racing, on the verge of a panic attack. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but all it did was make her dizzy. How could this be happening?
Her mum was still talking, but she had stopped listening, not that she could hear anything over the drumming noise of her heart in her ears. How could she do a five-hour drive in such a confined space with him? His scent alone would drive her crazy, not even mentioning the man himself. This must be a nightmare; soon, she would wake up and still be in bed. The way her dreams were going recently, she would most likely find herself in the back of a car with Sebastien eating her out only to leave her hanging. No, she couldn’t, shaking herself out of her wet daydream, she interrupted her mum mid-sentence.
‘Mum, please tell them it's unnecessary. I already have train tickets, and I don’t want to be a burden on Sebastien’ she said, hoping this excuse would suffice.
‘Nonsense, Sebastien is a sweetheart. He was more than happy to bring you along’ she told her confidently. ‘This way, you don’t have to lug all that luggage around and just sit comfortably.’
‘Mum, there is no need I like trains…’ she never got to finish as her mum interrupted her.
‘Now, missy, you will stop with this nonsense, and you will gracefully accept Sebastien's generosity’ she reprimanded. ‘Anyway, he is probably almost at your place.’ She finished.
As if on cue, the doorbell rang.
She heard Soph making her way into the hall and opening the door. She could swear she heard her friend's intake of breath upon seeing the person who was in their doorway, and as if to confirm her suspicions of who was at the door, she heard the deep raspy voice of Sebastien Campbell.
‘Mum, I have to go; I believe Sebastien has just arrived’ she told her.
Upon hearing this news, her mum told her to behave and that she would see her in a couple of hours. With their goodbyes said, she made her way to the hallway.
