Chapter 4 – The Beginning of a New Life

“Where are you bringing me to? Who are these people? Who are you? Don’t touch me!” Said Annie.
They dragged her in the car and off they go.
“We’re bringing you to the hospital for a check up. Those people, they are all my men working for me. I’m Aki, your step brother, and this is Kai. Your name is Mina. Don’t worry, we are a family and we will protect you.” Aki explained with a soft tone.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Kai register her as Mina and the nurse proceed without any suspicion.
“It looks like there’s a head injury that causes her to have memory loss.” Dr. Mo explained while looking at the MRI scan.
“Will she get back her memory and if so, when?” Asked Aki.
“It’s hard to say. Some people recover their memory within a month or two but some never did. I’m sorry Aki.” Said Dr. Mo.
No one suspect anything about Mina and they left the hospital once the check up is done.
Back at Aki’s place, Aki had Kai to bring Mina to her room and show her around the house to be familiar with it.
“This is your room, Mina. Let me know if you need anything alright?” Said Kai.
After Kai left the room, Annie explore around the room.
She opens the closet and went through the outfit hanging in there, thinking that these are not to her liking.
Outfit with holes, all black in colour and some are leather based.
“I wear these? Who am I?” Annie asked herself.
Suddenly Aki enter the room with few of his men.
“Take all these clothes away and those accessories too.” Ordered Kai.
Annie was confused and wonder what they are doing.
“Don’t worry, these are all out of fashion now. Come, Kai will bring you out to get new clothes.” Explained Aki.
Kai brings Annie to a boutique to purchase some new outfit.
He realized that no matter how identical Annie looks like Mina, Annie’s character, behaviour and even preference are all opposite of Mina.
“She looks exactly like her yet doesn’t feel like her.” Kai told himself.
“All done! Now you have the latest beautiful clothes and that should last your for a month or two. Let head home now.” Kai told Annie.
Back home, Aki already waiting at the living room for Kai and Annie.
When Annie walks in, Kai introduces her to Kazu, Aki’s second wingman.
“Mina! You’re home. This is Kazu, my second wingman. If there’s anything, you can count on Kai and Kazu. They both are like family, ok? I believe you must be tired now. Why not go to your room and have a short rest before we go out for dinner?Said Aki with a warm smile.
Annie nods and heads up to her room with Aki’s man helping her with those bags of clothes.
Meanwhile, Aki and Kai had a short discussion in the reading room.
“So how was it? Is she happy?” Aki asked Kai.
“She didn’t really smile so I don’t know whether if she’s happy or not. But Aki, she may looks like Mina but one will know she’s not her.” Said Kai.
“Yes, I know. No matter how much I adore Mina back then, whenever I see her, it troubles me because we know how Mina was behaving.. For this girl, whenever I see her, it gives me an ease because I know she is nothing like Mina. I’m actually feeling grateful that she looks like Mina but her behaviour is way better than Mina. I like it that way, Kai.” Aki explained.
“It’s almost 6 now. I’ll go get Mina and we will head out for dinner. Get the car ready, Kai”
Kai leave the room and head to the basement to get the car.
Kazu is already there and approach Kai.
“Kai, who is that girl? She’s definitely not Mina and what is Aki up to?” Asked Kazu.
“We found her on the road side, injured, and she doesn’t remember who she was. She reminds Aki of Mina and so he decided to bring her in.” Kai explained.
“We can’t keep her and let her pretend to be Mina. We had enough trouble from Mina and now a second Mina?” Kazu objected.
“Kazu she’s fine. She won’t be the second Mina. Aki and I will do our best that she will not be anything like the old Mina. Have faith in us.” Kai assured Kazu.
Without further hearing more from Kai, Kazu get into the car and drive off with few men.
Kai sighs and drive the car to get Aki and Annie.
