Chapter 5 – Aki’s family

“Where are we heading to, Aki?” Asked Kai.
“Hmm, what do you feel like eating, Mina? Just let us know what you want to have for dinner.” Aki asked with a happy mood.
“I don’t know. I’ll eat whatever you all decide.” Annie replied.
“Alright, sushi then. Let’s go.” Aki replied.
Their car arrived in front of a sushi restaurant and Aki’s men get down from the car that was behind them and open the car door for them.
Annie get down from the car and saw the restaurant sign.
“Aki, What does it write?” Asked Annie while pointing at the sign.
At that moment, Aki realizes that Annie need to learn how to read Japanese so that it would be easier for her.
“Sushi Ryujin. Don’t worry I’ll get the best tutor to sharpen up your Japanese alright?” Aki assured Annie.
Aki bring Annie in and every staff in the restaurant bows at him whenever they see him.
A staff escorts them to one room.
Once Annie and Aki is in the room, the staff push the door close.
“Are they not having dinner, Aki?” Asked Annie.
“They will be in the opposite room.” Aki replied.
“Aki, why is everyone bowing to you?”
“Because I’m the boss and they will bow to you too.”
“I don’t want that. It makes me feel unease.”
“You have to start getting use to it. Anyone under us has to bow to us. Remember that Mina, else there will be no fear nor respect.”
“Why do you want fear? I don’t understand.”
“Mina, do you know why this shop is called Ryujin? It’s the name of our clan and Ryujin means “dragon king”. I’m the dragon king and those who always follow you are all Ryujin’s men, my men. It is their job to protect you 24/7 and make sure no one touches you. Now let’s eat and don’t worry much.” Said Aki while looking into Annie’s eyes.
When they are done with the dinner, they left the restaurant.
“Kai, you bring Mina back home first. I’m going to the club first before heading home. If Mina asked, just tell her that I have a meeting and will be back home soon.” Whispered Aki.
Kai nod and bring Annie back.
(In the house)
“Kai, where is Aki?”
“Oh, he has a meeting and he will be back home soon. You need anything?” Kai asked.
“Nothing. Just wondering. Kai, can you tell me more about Aki and Ryujin clan?”
Kai didn’t expect Annie to ask that and he didn’t know how to answer that.
“I think it’s better for Aki to give the answer to those questions. Have a quick shower and I’m sure Aki will be home soon. He will tell you more about it.” Kai answered.
Annie listen to Kai and went up to her room for a quick shower.
Annie is drying her hair and someone knocks on the door.
“Come in” Annie answered.
It’s Aki with his hand behind him.
“Feeling comfortable?”
“Yes I am, Aki. How was your meeting?”
“Meeting was good. I’ve got something for you.” Said Aki with a smile.
He took out a box and opens it.
“It’s beautiful.” Annie said.
“You like it?” Asked Aki while helping Annie with the necklace.
“Yes I do.” Annie replied.
“Great. Mina, this necklace is a special necklace ok? Don’t lose it. It’s your identity ok? It allows me to find you if you ever gone missing.” Said Aki.
“Ok. Aki, can you tell me more about us and about Ryujin clan? Kai said you will tell me more about it.” Asked Annie.
That question caught Aki off guard.
“Well, we are step-sibling and not blood related. My father, married your mother and she brought you along to this family. You were only 10 when you moved in and I was 14. We grew up and spend most of the time together because our parents are hardly at home. Your mother died when you were 14 and my father died in a car accident a year after that. I took over my father’s legacy, the Ryujin clan, when I was 19 and manage it until now.” Explained Aki.
“How did my mother died?”
“Car accident” Said Aki.
Aki lied.
Mina’s mother was actually killed by Aki’s father when he found out that she has been cheating on him.
