Arrival

Jacky's POV I don't know for how long I have been asleep before a turbulence wakes me up. I look around and we are still in the plane. Joan look like has been binge watching some series since we boarded and hasn't slept even for a minute. This has to be one of the longest flight I have ever been on and it is super tiring. It is supposed to take around 8 hours and half and I think we still have two hours left. I decide to see if I can find something interesting on my tablet to kill time before we get to land. I was so engrossed in this movie I was watching before I heard the announcement we are finally going to be landing. I look outside the window and all I can see is how big this airport is. It looks like it is three times the airport we boarded the plane back at home. I can't wait to explore it better when we land. We landed at around noon meaning I have a few hours before the book signing at seven in the evening. I would like to go exploring but I have tomorrow for that. For now I should just sign in the hotel so we can get some rest. I have never seen a black taxi before making this a little exciting. We get our taxi and I can't help but ask the driver numerous questions. I really want to know more about the city but I also find his accent interesting. The drive from the airport wasn't as long as I had expected. Although we are both tired we enjoyed it very much especially when we stopped to take a few pictures at the tower of London. When we stop in front of the hotel I can't help but ask if we are in the right place. The hotel is super big and with glass walls all around it. It has amazing architecture with very beautiful decors. Its design is giving some mid 20th century Italian vibes and I can't help but fall in love. My boss must love his wife so much to do all this just for her. The service is pretty amazing and after finally getting our room key we head to our room. It is beautiful and cozy just like a home. There is a XL king size bed with silk bedsheets. The bed has been decorated with rose petals forming a big heart in the middle of the bed. My boss must have requested the honeymoon treatment and forgot to tell the hotel he wouldn't be the one coming. I take a look around and I can tell the other beddings are also expensive just by the way they look. There is a big screen on one side and mood lights. Joan is super exhausted and after taking a quick shower she is jumps on the bed for a nap. I decide to get some rest before we can go to the book signing later. I must have been asleep for a while because when I finally wake up it is starting to get dark outside. I glance at the clock and I have thirty minutes before the book signing. I quickly get out of the bed and head to the shower to freshen up. I can't believe I actually let myself sleep. I hate being late for anything and I can already see I am going to be late for this. After taking a quick shower I tie my hair up in a messy bun before getting dressed. I wake up Joan before choosing my outfit and after warning her not to take forever I start picking out my outfit. I decide to go with my ranged denim jumpsuit with a white t shirt and my white sneakers. I decide to carry a black jacket just in case it gets cold, although it quite unlikely with today's weather which is just lovely. For the first time for as long as I can remember Joan actually gets ready in just a few minutes. We leave the hotel with 15 minutes to spare and take a taxi to the book signing venue. When we get there I can already see the long queue of the people waiting. I get in line to wait for my turn which seems like is going to be a while. Joan who isn't a nerd like me can't seem to understand why I have to wait for hours just to get a signature on a book I already read. After what feels like forever it finally is my turn. It is very exciting to finally meet her and we spent almost thirty minutes talking about books. When I tell her I am an aspiring author she is more than excited to give me some pointers. I look around for Joan so she can take a picture of us but she is nowhere to be found. I knew she was going to be bored being here but I didn't expect her to go wandering off especially in a place she has never been before. I take a selfie with her and excuse myself after thanking her for her time. I quickly pull out my phone and dial Joan's number but she doesn't answer it. I am starting to get scared and I am so confused on what to do. Do I go to the police and report her as missing? Ugh! I have no idea even where I can find the police. I decide to go back to the hotel room and see if she is there. Maybe she decided to go back to rest as it was a very tiring day. I quickly get a taxi to take me back to the hotel but before I can even tell him where to take me I get a message from Joan. I hurriedly open it to see what it says but its just a pin. She didn't even bother explaining why she left me alone or where she is and why, she just send me her pin. On one hand I am pretty mad at her for just disappearing on me like that but on the other hand I am pretty worried about her. What of she is in trouble and it isn't even her who dropped the pin. She always does this and I hate it. She likes making me worry about her with every chance she can get. Today I am going to give her a piece of my mind when I see her. I just hope she is fine and in one piece .
