THORN
I returned to the estate after conducting all the business I had to do in town for my father. I was fairly distracted, my brain kept going back to the girl in the woods. The one that smelled alluring and my body lusted after. I got hard just thinking about her lips and flushed cheeks. I rubbed my hand across my face and fell back onto my bed. What am I going to do? I decided a cool shower would do it for me. I hopped in the cool water, letting it pelt down my body. Just as I finished and was wrapping a towel around my waist, a brisk knock came from my door.
"Come in." I called with irration. As if my day hadn't been bad enough. My brother Senri entered through the door. He was a year younger than me. A trouble maker, who took advantage of being the alpha's son. "Thorn, how is my favorite brother?" he chuckled as he hopped onto my bed with a stupid grin on his face. One I'd personally like to smack off. "What do you want, Senri?" I questioned, not trying to hide my annoyance. He visibly pouted. "Can't I come see my brother anymore?" He questioned innocently. I narrowed my eyes. "You know damn well we don't get along very well, since you hate the fact that I'm going to become the Alpha." I snorted out in displeasure. He feigned pain, grabbing his chest in a dramatic way. Why is he still a child even though he's about to be twenty.
"I'm hurt brother, I just wanted to spend time together like we used to." His face flashed like a little boy who was sad. He was a master in manipulation and had honed his skills on the girls he cheated on. But I was not going to fall for his farce, ever. Those poor pack girls might but I would not be privy.
"Get out Senri, I don't have time for your crap." I seethed out. Senri sighed and smirked as he got up from the bed. "That new girl on the territory is mighty cute." he let out at the door.
"You stay the hell away from her!" I boomed out as he closed the door with a sinster laugh. I shook my head and proceeded to get dressed. What is Senri planning and why did he pick her? To get back at me? I need to deal with this as soon as possible. I whipped the door open and headed to my father's office.
I entered the office to see my father filling out paperwork. His hair had graying parts mixed in with the jet black. Being Alpha was an incredibly stressful job. His warm hardened face looked up as I entered and moved closer. "Thorn, what is it?" he quetioned. I sighed falling into a chair. "Father, Senri is out of control, can't you do something?" I replied. My father's eye twitched. "Your brother is fine, he will grow up and learn his place just as your uncle did." he stated warmly. His brother had the same power struggle with my father that I'm having with Senri. Eventually his brother was mated to the daughter of an Alpha of another pack. Causing the power struggle to cease. We could only hope that would be the case here. "I hope your right father." I said dryly heading for the door. "I'm going for a run."
Once out of the pack house I took off in large strides on two feet. Tearing my clothes to shreds as I hit the ground on all fours in my wolf form. I felt the winds whip past me as I took off at full speed in the woods. I bobbed and weaved through the trees. Leaving marks of my being there in the untouched snow. I ran for a long time under the moon before slowing down to a pad. I realized I was near a wood cabin and padded closer to the edge of the woods. I looked up to the second floor window and noticed my red haired mate. She was reading in a nook, her facial expressions changed with the plot in the book. I could tell when something exciting or sad happened. She was adorable, I wondered if she knew how cute she looked when she was reading.
AHA! Archeron thundered in my head causing me to yelp in shock. WHAT in the hell Archeron! I yelled back at him as he chuckled. You like her you i***t just admit it! He teased me. I never said I didn't like her you MORON! I said we couldn't have her. I sneered back at him with annoyance. Blah Blah Blah! Archeron mocked. I breathed out an annoyed breath. Why are you like this sometimes? I questioned him. He choose to ignore me. Freaking hormonal wolf I thought and shook my head.
I refocused on my mate to see her staring back at me. I would be lying if I said she didn't captivate me. She eventually pulled away and disappeared into the room out of sight. I sighed and treked off into the woods. I slowly padded back to the estate with a stupid smile on my wolfy face.
ANYA
I woke to the sound of the birds tweeting outside. I stretched out in bed before getting up and headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. Once I finished I looked through my closet to figure out what to wear. I decided on boot cut jeans and a long sleeve camo shirt. I put on the same combat boots I wore the other day. By the time I was finished I could smell the french toast coming from the kitchen. I skipped down the steps into the kitchen, giving my mamaw a kiss on the cheek before taking a seat at the island next to my grandfather who was drinking his coffee.
"Good Morning!" I chirped out. My mamaw mumbled out a morning from the stove. My papaw smiled and returned the greeting. I poured myself some orange juice as my mamaw put the french toast with banana in front of me. I drenched them in blueberry syrup and dug in. My papaw next to me did the same, we were alike in many ways. The running joke is that we are twins generations apart. Midway through eating my french toast, my papaw cleared his throat. I looked up with my mouth full to meet his gaze. His gaze was grave and serious causing me to c**k my head to the side. I swallowed my food, "Is something wrong?" I questioned. My papaw sighed and looked to my mamaw.
"Tell her Richard." my mamaw urged.
"Tell me what?" I asked full of confusion.
"We told the Alpha about you. It was the best way to protect you, if they found you on their land with no clue that you were our granddaughter it would ultimately lead to your death. We don't want that to happen." he stated gently.
"He knows....what is he tells the Ellden Counsel?" I questioned franticly with fear in my eyes.
"He's promised not to, in fact he wants to meet you first to ensure you are not a danger. On top of that Fall Bleak Pack is the safest pack to be in since they are the most dangerous and ruthless and considered high nobility." He soothed out, trying to calm my nerves.
I nodded, still shocked, what was their plan if he refused to not tell the Ellden Counsel? I guess I don't have to worry about that at the moment. I wonder what he's like and if he will feel threatened when he realizes the alpha command doesn't work on me? I sighed, it is going to be a rough week.
"I'm gonna head up to my room, I need some time to think everything over." I finally spoke after a long silence had filled the void. My papaw looked apologetic. I know this was not easy for him to decide on. I just wish he would have discussed it with me before going ahead with it. I gave him a soft pat on the shoulder as I headed out. To comfort him and let him know I just needed time. Once up the stairs and in my room I fell back on my bed. I stared at the ceiling for a long time until my eyes started to feel heavy.
"Anya," my papaw's voice came softly as he shook me awake. I sat up rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
"What time is it." I asked with a yawn.
"It's eight in the evening." He answered. I nodded in understanding.
"Dinner is ready when you are, come down." Papaw stated before standing up and leaving. I stretched once more as I got out of bed. My head felt like it was reeling with everything. All of the fears I had suppressed were bubbling back up. It was damn near overwhelming. I went down for dinner, it was eeriely quetion compared to usual. Before long, we had all finished and said goodnight once more. I decided to sit in the reading nook and read again.
