Savior Complex

Dean kept them on pause for a while longer , wondering if he could still use the catchphrase that he had always wanted to use while also pondering that every moment he spent wondering , it was getting too late to use the catchphrase , he was in a royal bind .

" Uhm , are you not going to ask us to turn around slowly ? "

The one in the middle was obviously the one that had talked .

He was wearing a hat and fatigues that obviously did not belong to him because they stopped far above his ankle and making him lift his hands up was making the discrepancy very obvious .

Dean could not believe the audacity of the man .

" Are you really telling me what to do while I am holding a rifle and pointing at one of your heads , you do not even know which head I am pointing at ".

This had all three of them wobbling on their feet .Good , they would be more honest and forthcoming with answers now .

" Why were you following us ? "

Short pants raised one of his hands a little bit higher , wiggling a little on his feet .

His pants were really beginning to bother Dean .

" What is it ?! "

" Can I answer your other question ? "

Dean nodded and then realized that they could not see him so he answered properly .

" Go ahead ".

Short pants cleared his throat in a lousy manner and tried to put his hands down .

Dean raised the rifle again and stepped forward , sticking the rifle's barrel into Short pants neck and pushing his hat away .

" Do you want me to blow your head and let the steels blow the rest of you up ? "

Short pants shook his head aggressively , sniffling loudly as he raised his voice .

" No , I just thought that we could talk face to face so to better understand each other , you know , Fam ? ".

Dean frowned and took the rifle off his head .

" I don't want to better understand you , I just want to know why we were being followed and I am definitely not Fam with you ! ".

Short pants nodded incessantly , his head bobbing along with his long unkept hair .

" Okay , okay I will tell you . We saw you guys going and noticed that the first guy was reading from a paper , we thought it might be a map that would lead to the mall so we were just going to follow you to the mall , that is all I swear ".

As he talked , Dean had not really paid much attention to what he was saying but had instead been focused on his hair that bounced about as he talked .

He had really familiar hair that Dean might have seen before .

Dean took a step closer to him and used the rifle's barrel to turn his face around to see if it was who he thought it might be .

Trevor , better known as Hairs or attacker from the forest turned around .

Dean rolled his eyes and put his rifle down while Trevor exhaled loudly on recognizing Dean .

His two partners turned slowly to peek at Dean's face .

Both female , one was a skinny, long-legged blonde and was probably in her mid thirties while the other was chubby , dark skinned and seemed to be in her early twenties .

It seemed Trevor was a natural leader , he had found another team so soon .

Dean gave the green light for Jade and Blade to come out while Trevor hounded him with different questions .

" I honestly can not believe you followed us solely because you noticed one of us was reading from a paper and you just assumed it was a map , that was extremely stupid of you ".

" Does this not translate to Fate ? I mean , look at all the things that have happened between us in this very short time , we were fated to meet ".

He laughed heartily while Dean scoffed .

" Nothing has happened between us well except that time when you knocked me unconscious and robbed me but then I repaid you by saving your life , other than that , nothing has happened between us".

Dean had said this on purpose to gauge the women's reaction and there had not been much of it .

It seemed they were aware of what he had been up to before .

" Oh, It is Trevor from the forest , the bandit that tried to rob Dean , man , I was wondering if you heard from your previous members , do you know if they made it out that day ?! ".

Blade exclaimed as soon as he realized who it was . Trevor happily turned to Blade and waved like they had made a lot of fun memories while they had been together .

Jade looked lost in all of this , as lost as Dean felt .

Trevor motioned for the two women to step forward and introduced them accordingly, starting from the long-legged blonde .

" This is Nelly , the co - captain of our team and that is Tara , a member of the team ".

" *The* member of the team ".

Dean corrected and they all turned to look at him , Dean only looked at Trevor though .

" She is not a member of your team , she is the only member . Who really has a team of three with two people having leadership position ? "

Dean did not bother to wait for a reply and just gestured to Jade and Blade for them to leave .

" We did not get your names !".

Dean turned around to observe the person that had spoken , Nelly , co - captain of whatever they were .

" We never gave our names ".

Dean turned around to leave when he was stopped again , this time by Trevor who looked about ready to cry , he had grabbed on to Dean's hand .

" What exactly is it this time ? "

Trevor and his teammates got together as they all stared at Dean like they were a litter of lost puppies .

" Please , can we come along with you ? We are also headed to the mall and since you have a map we could help each other , you know ? "

Dean carefully peeled Trevor's fingers off his hand .

" I really do not know what you are talking about and I doubt you can be of any help to us ".

He turned around to Jade and pointed over at Trevor's group .

" What do you think , Jade ? Do you really think they can help us ? "

Jade blinked , squinting in the morning sun , he shook his head slowly .

" Logically , they do not seem like they are capable of offering any help but I do not think we should leave them ... ".

Dean cut Jade off by turning to Trevor's crew .

" You heard the man , you do not seem very capable ".

Dean transferred the hand that held his rifle in case Trevor was thinking of grabbing his hand again , that would deter him at least a little .

He walked past Jade who ran after him , he seemed to have quite a lot to say .

" Dean , Yes , they might not be capable of offering help to us but we could still bring them along ".

Dean scoffed , this what happened when you felt protected .

Dean had no issues with protecting people, he had always naturally eased into that role but this was different , the only reason he was here was to protect his sister .

"Tell me Jade ,can you protect them if we run into a steel like the one from yesterday ? Will you be responsible if something happens to any of them ? "

" I feel like you have no idea what you are supposed to be doing here but I can definitely tell you that it is not saving other people's lives ".

" If you are going to do that , you might as well shoot yourself now and save yourself the stress of a gruesome death ".

Dean Continued to walk , it had to be said because the only person that was on his mind was Jay .

And he would not lose her , regardless of what happened here.

Dean was suddenly whirled around by Jade who was breathing heavily .

" You are right , everything you said was right except the part where you are the only one who defies the logic you came up with ".

" You saved me , saved Trevor , Saved May last night , saved Pat and Clarissa and even returned to save Martha . And when she died , you could have just escaped on your own but you helped Juan try to get his sister's body back ".

" Dean , I think you should be the one to shoot yourself now and save yourself from the gruesome death ".

Jade finished his rant and stared at Dean while breathing heavily , Dean stared right back .

Dean suddenly broke into a laughing fit , he wiped his face when he was done .

" You are right ".

Jade beamed over this and Dean tapped his shoulder before walking away .

" You are right but I honestly do not care about your speech , save it for the UN ,the WHO or something ".

With that , Dean joined Blade to decide on their route to the mall .
