Love or Vengeance

Chapter 2: The painful past

“ I was with him and the next second, we all ran our separate ways, “ Maverick replied , his eyes falling at the man approaching Ariana from behind .

“ Madam there are intruders !” He yelled as he ran with Ariana following behind.

“ Carlos! George !” Arianna yelled wanting to hear some response but none came . Her heart sank as she prayed that her kids were safe and hiding .

She got into the room and locked it, she kept Alejandra on the bed and immediately left the room while looking at it from behind . She had to find her husband and kids .

Alejandra’s hands were cold , she was alone with Maverick while her mom left . Her teeth were chattering with fear as she shivered.

Hot tears rolled down her cheeks , she saw aunt Sarah , she fell to the ground and no matter how much they screamed, she didn't wake up, she was motionless on the ground with no sign of life.

She saw blood coming out of her body like thick liquid . It poured out with so much momentum and force . Alejandra broke into thick sobs , her heart drumming rapidly , she didn't want anything to happen to her father or her mother . Even though Carlos always teased her , she still wanted him to continue teasing her .

She felt a warm and little hand hold her shoulders , “ everyone will be fine , your mother is strong “ Maverick’s little voice boomed in her ears .

Alejandra turned and immediately hugged him , “ who are those men , will they kill us ?” She asked in between sobs .

Maverick shook his head , “ they don't have what it takes to hurt us “ Maverick replied as he pulled Alejandra into a warm hug .

Alejandra kept shaking her head while sobbing hard .

Mommy said that too but aunt Sarah won't wake up anymore , now that you said it , who won't wake up anymore ? She thought , sobbing loudly .

Someone banged loudly on the door in an attempt to open it .

Alejandra's heart sank as her hands trembled , she turned to face maverick and saw the fear visible on his face.

He held her hand and led her to a small opening, “I always played with Carlos here , this tunnel will lead us outside the big gates” he said as he tried to open it .

The big iron covering it was difficult to open , as he kept trying , “ open it quickly , will Carlos come here too ?” She asked as she kept looking out .

“ I don't know , Andra, “ he said while forcing it open .

The door burst open as a bulky man came in , Alejandra gasped in shock . He had an axe to his hand and blood dripping from the axe .

“ It isn't his blood then whose blood is it ?” She whispered to herself as her eyes were stuck on the man .

He was ransacking the place looking for something…or perhaps someone .

Just when he turned ,her mother was right behind him as she hit him hard with a frying pan .

Just when Alejandra thought that her mother had won , the man returned his gaze to her like he was not even beaten in the first place .

He hit Ariana hard with his head making her spit blood as she fell to the ground, her nose broken.

Alejandra got scared as she screamed “ mom !” Alerting the bulky man .

Just then Maverick opened the tunnel after pulling for so long .He heard Alejandra’s scream and rushed to take a look but the bulky man ripped the axe straight to the door causing the little kids to back away…their hearts drumming

Ariana’s pupils dilated as she saw what was happening, her child was in there and the merciless monster would kill her if she did nothing .

She stood up from the floor , her legs wobbling a bit . Her eyesights were bad from getting hit with the sturdy forehead.

She rushed towards him and immediately held him tight, dragging him away from the door. She pushed him down with all intensity hoping that she wouldn't fail . Just as she rushed to grab the axe , a bullet pierced her chest sending her immobile.

She struggled to stand but the pain from the bullet was so much as she was equally losing blood .

Her gaze fell on the little hole on the door as Alejandra stared wide eyed , “ run “ was the last word that managed to escape her lips before she fell to the ground In a loud , ungraceful thud .

Alejandra screamed louder , sobbing profusely. Maverick saw that her mother had been shot and those men were coming for them next , he immediately dragged the crying Alejandra into the hole , he got in too and immediately closed it.

They crawled deep from the hole with Alejandra still sobbing non stop. Her heart arched so badly . She didn't know if her mom would ever breathe again or if she was just playing with her . It must be a game they usually played when she was little . They would pretend not to be breathing , it was the game right ?

They crawled a far distance and finally got to the exterior. Alejandra opened the manhole cover , it was not as heavy as the one maverick tried to open .

Immediately she pushed it open , a bulky arm carried her out .

Maverick yelled inside as he rushed out , “ let her go ! Let her go ! “ He yelled at the man .

Alejandra was throwing punches with her hands while kicking fiercely with her legs .

The bulky man slapped her across the face as he dropped her harshly .

Alejandra lost sense of time and sense of vision as the slap resonated throughout her entire organ. She cried fiercely , the pain surging throughout her entire body .

Maverick rushed to her side and immediately hugged her, while trying to steady her .

His face was etched with worry as her body was seriously bruised because of how rashly she was dropped .

“ Gather the two Torres boys , kill the rest !” A man said authoritatively , his face covered with a dark mask .

Even at such a distance , Alejandra shivered with the kind of aura that oozed from him .

Maverick was suddenly stiff, why did the voice sound so familiar ? He turned around and his heart sank .

“ Dad ?” He whispered, loud enough for the people around him to hear .

The bulky man removed the hair covering his face, their eyes wide with surprise, “ it's the young master !” They yelled .

The black masked man sturdily approached the Maverick , “ what are you doing here ?” He asked , his gaze bare of any emotion .

A tear slipped from Maverick's eyes , “ I came to celebrate a friend's birthday , but it turned bloody , all because of you dad !” He yelled as he punched the man’s stomach .

The man didn't bulge one bit, instead he ordered him to be taken back , “ take him back to the family villa “ he said coldly . His gaze falling on the petite and scared figure on the floor .

“ Well , ain't you a very pretty one with those eyes and beautiful blonde hair ? Too bad , you would have to die with them ” He said coldly, his voice devoid of any warmth or sympathy .

“ Kill her !” He ordered rashly .

Alejandro felt cold all over , she watched as the entire scene unfolds in front of her , her mother has been killed , it was inevitable that her father has been killed too .
