Chapter 2 *Continuation of the flashback* After half an hour, they arrived at the airport and got on the plane. Out of nowhere Aleah asked "mom? Can I ask why you and aunty were screaming?" She asked. Confusingly. "Well... Sometimes sisters get into lots of fights, and sometimes it takes time for them to forgive each other *smiles*" Hallie explained. Aleah gleamed at her mother. "Does that mean you and aunty will be okay? Will Amelia and I have fights too? *she asked looking at her sleeping sister* Can we forgive each other afterwards too?" She bombarded with questions. Hallie laughed at her and at the same time smiled and kissed her forehead. Just as she was about to answer, the flight attendant asked everyone to put on their seatbelts; because they were about to take off. *a few hours later* After a few hours the plane had a huge problem with one of the wings. "Uhm what is going on?" A lady with a frightened look on her face asked. "Don't worry ma'am, our pilot's figuring that out and for the meantime we should all keep calm! Please!" The flight attendant shouted at the panicking people on board. By then their problem just got even bigger... The right wing flew off and now the plane is out of control. Still, the flight attendant tried to keep everyone calm, and to keep their seatbelts on. "Mommy! What's going on? I'm scared!" Aleah cried out. "Me too!" Amelia said. "Don- don't worry we're going to be alright, okay? We're going to be alright; I know let's pray okay? Would that make you two better? " The children nodded and prayed with their mother. "In the name of the father, the son and the holy Spirit..." Hallie comforted, trying to keep her children calm... She too was scared and wished her husband was with her by her side that day. The plane then had to do an emergency landing, the landing was rather rough than expected. Thankfully everyone was saved that day except for one unfortunate passenger... "Everyone please slide down this evacuation slide one by one!" The flight attendant instructed to everyone. Just as everyone was about to get down one passenger shouted " Hey! Right here help!" The same lady from before shouted. The flight attendant and the others ran to the lady; seeing the sight of Hallie unconscious on the lady's arms. "Oh my! What. Happened?" The flight attendant asked. "I-i don't know she just fell in my arms and then went unresponsive. I-what should I do?" The lady stuttered. "Is our mother going to be okay?" Aleah asked worriedly with Amelia hugging her side. "Yes honey, don't worry your mom will be alright." The flight attendant comforted and started doing compressions until help came. After about 10 minutes, help arrived and Hallie still wouldn't wake up. The flight attendant then took the children outside and gave them both blankets... "Is our mother going to be alright?" The flight attendant bit her lower lip bearing the fact that their mother might be dead. "Your mother will be okay, don't worry." She comforted again. "Our mother said don't lie or else your tongue will disappear." Aleah replied. She was a bit hesitant to tell the truth, but had too. "Your mother... I-i think she's not going to make it honey... I'm sorry" She said truthfully. Aleah got silent... Looking at her sister, her sister was so little and has cancer what are they going to do without their mother? Instead of saying anything she just sobbed at the flight attendant's shoulders. Then she saw her mother getting carried by a gurney with a white cloth covering her body... Aleah broke down at the sight, as bad as she wanted to go to her mother; she stopped herself. Knowing her sister would follow her. Hallie has been keeping a secret from her family for quite a while... She has been having some health issues, that she had been enduring during the flight, but unfortunately didn't make it... *End of flashback* *Narrator's POV* Aleah's wise for her age. Any children would run, play around, break things, have fun... But she would rather stay inside and read. She would be smiling all the time, she would greet people, but when her sister passed away, she lost all of her sparks, and she will always be with her uncle Karl, her aunt's or the cemetery. Her uncle Jared had taken control of her, he would slap her, punch her and make her feel like a burden... All Aleah wanted was for her family to come back, but she knows that will never happened. Although she does want to leave her uncle Jared and be with her uncle Karl instead, she just feels lively their, especially when she visits her aunt too... *End of Narrator's POV* *Aleah's POV* "Aleah! Wake the damn up! You're going to be late! Also, give me my breakfast!" My uncle banged at my door. "Yes uncle." I said with a raspy voice. It's 5:45 am and my head is killing me. My cheek's still hurting from last night and my eyes are all swollen from crying... I came down and made breakfast. I then went to change and walked to school. *At school* "Hey Aleah!" My best friend Everly greeted. As Everly got closer, she saw my swollen eyes and got worried. "Woah! Girl are you okay? What happened? Did HE do this to you?" She questioned. "Who do ya think?" I said rolling my eyes. "He woke me up today asking for breakfast." I said walking to my desk. "Leah... Don't take this personally, but you really need to get out of that house as soon as possible! How about tonight? We can make an escape plan now or! You can just stay at my house and then your uncle Karl or aunt Hannah will come get you! How does it sound?" Everly suggested. "I don't know Eve... I mean don't get me wrong, I so want to do that the minute I walked in that house... But CPS said it's better if I live with him, cause he's older than his other siblings and all that sh*tty stuff... I replied. "Well everything has changed now! It has been what? Like 7 years! You're 14 now!" Just as I was about to answer, the teacher came in and our conversation got cut off, to he honest I was a bit thankful to say the less; I mean I would like to talk about it, but just thinking about everything that he has done all of these years just makes me want to barf... "Okay class today we're gonna learn about..." *After school* "HEY!" Everly yelled, running to me. "What now?" I whined. "So *huffed* have you*huffed* thought about it?" She says while catching her breath. Aleah took a big breath and nodded. *End of Aleah's POV* *Narrator's POV* They both planned the whole escape while walking home. When Aleah got home her uncle wasn't home yet, which made it easier for her to pack her things. "Eve! My uncle's not home yet I'm gonna make my escape." She said while on a call with Everly. Everly's of course relieved that there's a chance of getting her best friend out of her toxic uncle's house. That is until the door opened. "Aleah! Are you home?!" Her uncle yelled from downstairs. When he didn't hear anything back he ran upstairs. Aleah had already gotten down from her bedroom window and ran for her life. "Aleah?!" Her uncle yelled in madness while kicking the door open. When he saw that the window was open, he lost it. "Aleah!! Where the h*ll do you think you're going?! You can't run forever! You have no one!" He bombarded. Aleah didn't care one bit, she's going to escape that house no matter what and now she had done it... Everly has been waiting for Aleah to come to their house with her father so that if ever her uncle followed her, Everly's father would've been there to protect them. "Aleah! Oh my gosh!" Everly said while Aleah ran up to her. "I can't believe I did it." Aleah sobbed. "Why don't you two get inside?" Eve's father suggested. "Thank you Mr. Arlon." Aleah thanked and went inside along with Eve. *End of Chapter 2*
