Lana's Pov The continuous beeping sound of my alarm was usually the beginning of a great day for me because I would be resuming work at my favorite place, Herold & Co. But today, it felt like my nemesis was screaming down at me. So I stretched my hand in a bid to put it off but unknowingly pressed something: a remote that opened the window shield, allowing sun rays to feast on my face. “Ugrhhhh!” I screamed as I shot up, took my phone, put off the alarm and instantly, I was attacked by an excruciating headache. “What the hell,” I muttered, using my hand to softly massage my head. “Keep it down, will you?” I heard someone say, scaring me, and I flinched. Was I being watched? Wait, where am I? Why am I only on my undies? Oh no, Lana, what have you done? A million questions flooded my mind, but it all seemed blank. The last thing I remembered was the kiss from yesterday, and since then up till now, everything seemed blank until I felt him move beside me. I shot up and slowly removed the duvet that covered his face, and then I saw him. No, no, no, no! I used my hands to cover my mouth, suppressing the scream that threatened to come out. How did I go from kissing him to being in bed with him in a hotel room? Oh, my world. As I squinted my eyes at him, flashes of last night began to flood my mind like a movie. After the kiss, I had asked him to take me to a bar where I drank myself to stupor. He wanted to take me home, asking me about my address, but I couldn't even remember it, so he booked this hotel room and led me here, but then, what happened? My mind just went blank. I couldn't remember if we did it or not. I facepalmed. I was beginning to freak out. I have never been this careless. I mean, never! I had always been modest and careful in all my dealings. How did I get here? Well, remember when I told you I did the most stupid thing? Well, there you have it. “Lana, think fast!” I whispered. Then I immediately began to dress up, and when I was done and about to walk out, I tripped on something and fell with a thud. “What the…” “Lana?” I heard his sweet, sensational voice. I laid silent, hoping he would go back to sleep until I saw those his ocean blue eyes, staring into my soul. “Oh, there you are,” he added, and I grinned sheepishly, standing up and adjusting myself. Wait, how did he know my name? Just as I was about to ask, he cut me short with a; “Are you okay?” I nodded, trying to avoid his gaze as guilt filled me. Instantly, I knew there was no escaping this, so I decided to face it head-on. “Look, I appreciate all you did for me yesterday but uhm… whatever happened last night, forget about it, it never happened.” I was breathing fast as I had rushed to say that. I looked at him and saw a flash of disappointment on his face, which was quickly replaced with a tight smile and a nod. “Well, it might be a little late for that. I…” “No, it's not,” I said, cutting him off. I was certain that we would not see each other again, so I just decided to wear my big girl shoes and accept this for what it was: a one night stand. “Uhmmm… I gotta go, Mr…” “Lancelot, I'm Lancelot, but before you go, I have something I should show you,” he said, and I shook my head uncontrollably. I wasn't interested in it, I wasn't ready to be attached to any man or him even though he looked like a Greek god. “I've got to go, bye…” I said, running out and booking a taxi for work. I was almost running late by now. Then, as I settled into the cab, I remembered everything that had transpired yesterday. My step sister stealing my boyfriend, my cheating boyfriend dumping me, and then my supposed one night stand with a random stranger. Could my life get any stranger? I went to Ethan's hoping to be a fiance but returned with my ring given to a stranger. Wait, my ring! “We're here,” the cab man said, and I paid him, leaving his car. I looked like yesterday, so I decided to go wash up first before resuming fully. “Hey, Mrs. Ethan…” my best friend Sothria sang immediately. I entered the rest room and I snapped my head at her, glaring at her. “Oh, okay… what's wrong?” She asked, raising her hands in surrender. “And why are you wearing what you did yesterday?” “Don't ask, Soth,” I said, calling her by her short name. What is she doing here anyways? “Oh… Big news, big news!” She exclaimed. “What is it now?” “The new CEO of Herold & Co is coming today for inspection!” She jumped excitedly. “And I heard he's the youngest and richest bachelor in town… oh, and he's also a snack, Lana, a snack… I wish I could just snatch him and have him for breakfast…” she said, looking dreamily at an empty space, making me crack a smile. Sothria was a total vibe, and I didn't know how life in this office would feel now that I was single if not for her. At least she could get my mind off Ethan. She went on to tell me several interesting tales about the CEO until our manager came and asked me to come along so we could welcome the CEO and lead him to our department, which I did. “What the heck!” I exclaimed as I hit a wall or was it a person? I had absentmindedly followed the manager and didn't know when I collided with someone. “You! What are you…” I started but was cut off by my manager who said; “CEO, I apologize on her behalf; she wasn't watching.” What?! As I was about to say something to a smiling Lancelot, Ethan ran towards us and bowed his head to him. “Boss! Here's your car keys,” Ethan said, making me widen my eyes.
