Mia’s pov
I winced as I tried to clean up the fresh cuts. I always expected it. Looking through my tears in the bathroom towards my bedsheets, I made a mental note and shoved it in my bag. I had to get it cleaned before dad comes home
“I can’t go out like this.” The cuts glided across my shoulders to my wrist as I stitched up the ones that ran deeper than the rest. Her sickly scent is all over me even after I scrubbed my skin raw. Its 4:03 in the morning, my nights are getting worse.
The house was dead quiet as I locked the front door, stepping out into the nippy dark.
**
My head was panging as the hill appeared dimly insight, Lylith bombarding my mind with wanting me to shift so I can heal faster.
“Mia, why?”
“Why what?”
She whined in the back of my head. Knowing that I played pretend to not know what she’s asking about. Cedarwood and honey wafted towards my nose, pulling me in towards the top of the hill. My body can’t stop. The core of my chest warmed up sending flickers of sharp nerves to my heart.
It’s so warm
There he stood. My mate. Sitting there in a black v neck and sweats with earphones plugged in, looking over the horizon. My skin turns to a conflict of hot and cold, panic rising trying to suppress the touch he had when he pinned me down. Quickly, I tried walking away.
“Mia.”

She froze there, shoulders tense with tremor. All that was racing in her head was how on earth did he figure or find out her name. Lylith was howling at the top of her lungs. The wagging of her tail was enough to erupt nausea in Mia. She wanted nothing else but to disappear. Luke stood, chest open, shoulders poised and sharp, pulling out the earphones and shoving them into his pocket.
“I figure you would come back”
No response. His Arctic blue eyes pierced through her, commanding her not to leave. She quickly turned around and began pacing down, afraid of the god forbidden movements that would hold her lifeless.
“Please leave.”
“There’s no sign to say I cannot stay.”
She broke into jog downhill. Her heart was a knife to her throat. I have to get out of here. He’s too close.
“I just want to apologize.”
His voice was distant, but a string of sorrow tied her still. Enough for him to catch up. “what?”
“I’m sorry. For pushing you and holding you down like that. It's just- I’ve been searching for you for years. Please. Hear me out” he raised his hands up in surrender, then looked down with a tinge of regret. This stopped Mia dead in her tracks. Hear me out? Can I trust him?
His cold exterior shifted to a softer scent of mahogany. It soothed her, calming down the waves of anxiety bedridden in her. it eloped her entire mind, calling out to touch him, her hand on her fated mate. But her fear held her ground.
“I guess you’re not the type to talk. That’s fine.
My name is Luke Kaiser. Son of the previous alpha of the Argo pack before my uncle took over. I’m 22, purebred, and part of the conference board of the alliance between our pack. I have to say, the women after your pack sided with ours are very well protected-“
“That was my father’s idea.”
Her voice rung lightly. But it buffered Luke’s sentence of thought. She sounds so f*****g beautiful.
“Sorry?”
“that- that was my father’s idea. He wanted to protect the females as much as possible.”
“I see. Please pass my thanks to your father”. Luke starts to approach her, closing the distance between the two. He cant deal with the distance. He wants her. He wants her. Reon is dying to speak to her wolf. He’s dying to touch her, breathe her scent into heaven. His hand tangled and caress her hair. Kiss her, lick her, claim her.
“Stop”
He halted. Peeved thinking that his own luna probably doesn’t feel the same. “Don’t come any closer.”
Blood.
“What’s. In. Your. Bag.” Luke’s eyes turned dark. Those blue eyes that left Mia in wonder abandoned its peace.
“n-nothing”.
“Then why are you stammering?” f**k.
“u-uhm.. its private.” She’s tugging on her sleeve.
“Tell me why the f**k do I smell your blood in your bag. Hand it over.” Luke’s outreached hand sent his scent spiraling to a heavy smoke of burning cinders. He peered into Mia’s eyes, frantic to break contact but they held her still. Luke’s alpha scent chained her. a low growl tremored his chords. Who the f**k hurt my luna?!
“I-“
“YOU WHAT?!”
“ITS MY PERIOD!”

Luke’s pov
I gaped, opened and shut like a f*****g flounder. She stood there, eyes squeezed shut and lips pressed thin and arms shielding her face, bracing herself to withstand any breaking thrash of physical assault. A tickle reached my chest. Then a howl of laughter boomed out of my mouth,
Holy f**k. H o l y f**k I can’t breathe.
She opened her eyes and stared at me, looking like she’s witnessing a madman having a psychotic break.
“Jesus f*****g Christ, I got worked up over nothing?” oh my f*****g god, the embarrassment of her cheeks turned cherry red, she’s pouting! Oh my Moon, This innocent baby. I want to squish her cheeks and kiss her hair. f**k I want to own her now. Her cute lips! Pink supple lips pouting further with her eyebrows furrowed.
“Why are you laughing? It’s not funny!” the mood lifted like a fog. Tangy apple radiated off her like morning dew. Oh god she’s baby
Holy f*****g god, I inwardly blessed the Moon Goddess for blessing me this precious soul. “I’m so sorry” my words are trembling with laughter. Her annoyance grew to sour apple. My stomach growled enough for her to hear. She smelt so delicious.
“Hey, Mia. Do you know any place we could grab a bite?”
**
She walked in front of me, insisting I keep my distance. Hey, isn’t this distance a bit too long?
“I know a place, it’s a bakery around the corner. It’s my favorite place to go because there are not many people.”
Her long black raven hair danced like a field of grass, each blade reflecting the light like waves under the calm summer by the shore. The grey oversized hoodie she wore the last time I saw made her even smaller than she really is. She looks like a f*****g fairy. The sun is rising well into 7 am in the morning. The door of the bakery tinkered, the shelf full of fluffy hot bread and pastries. The pack members are starting to come out of their houses. Something’s odd.
She did not avoid when female members are crossing paths with her. But she stopped and scuffled a distance away from males.
“Mia! My baby!” an old cherry woman walked out from the back, around the counter and gave her a motherly hug. I feel like I’m about to melt at this scene.
“Granny! What’s new on the shelf?” her smile. I swear her smile.
They chattered away. Keeping my distance to not disturb their own little bubble, I scanned their body language. Both seem like they’ve known each other since she was a pup. A group of male wolves walked into the bakery.
“Hey, granny, what’s the goods?”
The elderly’s face fell stern, pulling Mia behind her towards the back of the counter. Oh?
“They aren’t for you. I’ve already gotten the approval of your restraining orders from the pack’s army. One step closer and I will alert them.”
Disgusting cackles were shared amongst the group. Four males, five? One of them caught sight of my mate and sneered. Licking his lips. My blood boiled high. This fucker.
“Who’s that b***h beside you granny? Is she for sale too? Can I have a taste of her p***y?” Howling of laughter erupted from them. My claws seething to dig it into his throat. Mia is trembling from the corner of her eyes. She’s erratic, breathing unevenly like quake, gripping onto the elderly’s arm. I want to f*****g kill them.
Mia’s face snapped something inside of me. Tears filled her grey lonely eyes, begging. Reon growled and scratching the corner of my mind.
“Luke you fucker! Get Mia away from them! Mate! Mate is in danger!”
“L-Luke.”
