I'll make him pay!

Avery's POV. “You had a nightmare again,” A husky tone mentioned beside me. My chest was heaving as I opened my eyes. Beads of sweat appeared on my forehead as my trembling body slowly calmed down. I turned my head in the direction of the voice, and the figure sitting by my bed looked like a man that came out of fictional books. His green eyes glistened like bright pearls in the dark, and his red shirt clinged to his muscular build. His jet black hair was slicked back into a tight bun and his thin brows were naturally arched. By his looks, I was guessing he's a billionaire. Handsome couldn't qualify him, he was gorgeous! But what was such a man doing here? And more importantly, where the hell was I? I parted my lips to speak but my parched throat itches badly, making my words roll out in a dry cough. As if he knew why I was coughing, he quickly handed me a glass of water. I sat myself up on the bed, steadying my breath before taking the glass from him. The refreshing feeling of water on my throat felt so good. I dropped the glass on the cupboard by the bed, hugging my stomach as I stared at him. “Clara, please tell me you're okay?” The gentleman asked, his voice etched with concern and all I could do was nod. Clara? But my name was Avery. And the last thing I remember was…dying with my unborn child! So how on earth was I here with this random stranger calling me a different name? “Uh, did you hear me?” The husky tone disrupted me from my thoughts again, and I blinked back. “Yes, I'm fine,” I replied and even my voice sounded softer than what I used to sound like. Wow. He suddenly moved from the chair to the bed, resting my body on his as he took a seat beside me. His woodsy scent smelled so nice, I couldn't help burying my head into his neck to sniff him even more. But then I realized he was a stranger. I quickly pushed my head out and his brows arched with surprise, “What's wrong?” I shook my head in the negative, biting hard on my lips with a lowered gaze. Then his lips curved into the perfect smirk I'd ever seen on a man. f**k, I wanted to touch those lips but I suppressed the urge. “Don’t tell me you're shy all of a sudden,” He rasped, his orbs glistening with amusement. “No, I just…aren't you supposed to be busy with work?” I muttered the fastest words my brain could come up with, because he certainly looked like he would fit in an office. He snorted, “True. But it's our anniversary today, so I've cancelled all my plans for the day.” Our anniversary? Who was this man to me? I smiled, placing my hand in his even though my heart hammered in my chest, “Wedding anniversary?” He shook his head, “Dating anniversary. We were supposed to get married but…” he trailed off like he expected me to know the rest. “But what?” I asked, leaning in to rest on his shoulders. Though I had no idea who he was, I couldn't ignore the safety I felt around him. “But you said you wanted to finish with your modeling gigs to prevent any more scandals, since you're a public figure and you've got people watching,” He explained. So I was his girlfriend and also his model? Interesting. I had no memory of telling him that, but he didn't look like could be lying. I sighed softly, “Oh..okay.” Right after that, he cupped my jaw, angling my face to meet his. His lips brushed slightly against mine, making sparks of desire and anxiety flow through me. Then he kissed me. “Happy anniversary baby. It's twelve a.m and I'm glad I am the first to wish you,” He whispered, driving his thumb over my face. For a moment, my mind went blank like his lips took away my ability to think. I didn't understand what he meant by being the first to wish me and I didn't really think much of it. But then I smiled, my cheeks burning red, “Happy anniversary….” I widened my eyes as I realized I didn't even know his name. “Baby,” I quickly added, and he grinned. “Usually, you'd call me by my name. I like this,” He muttered, kissing my cheek before rising from the bed. “You should get some sleep. It's going to be a long day with all of us.” He said, heading out of the room. The moment he left the room, I gasped. My previous life was a weak woman who had nothing to her name, and now I was not only a girlfriend to a very attractive man, I was also a celebrity model? Woah. I thought things like this only happened in this movies, and if anyone was ever lucky to be reborn, I didn't think it'd be me. But maybe this was a second chance to get back at those who hur t me. With this new identity, I'll find Dominic if he's in this life and I'll make him pay for hurting me!
