CHAPTER 9
Drake's POV
Someone dared to make my girl cry.
And I was going to make sure they paid dearly for it.
It was natural to have enemies when you were a celebrity but Clara was the first who barely had any amongst the group.
So it wasn't hard to find the person behind this.
I'd seen her break down earlier this morning and Chris had been comforting her since, easing the bile that rose in my throat whenever I looked at her. I wanted to hold her in my arms and assure her that I’d take care of it.
But I didn't do that until I actually took care of it.
Which is why I was heading to her room tonight.
“Princess,” I called out and she turned towards the door, her face looking all dry and slightly better than before.
“Yes?” Her soft voice washed over me, having the usual effect on my heart.
I smirked, “Check the news.”
Her eyes widened and her body tensed immediately, she shook her head and turned away.
Chris turned to me with a furious expression but the gestures I gave him with my eyes helped him understand what I’d done.
I walked into the room, taking a seat by her on the bed as Chris held her hand, assuring her that whatever she'd see wouldn't hurt her.
That made my lips turn up.
Amongst the men, I wish I could talk to her like that, connect with her emotionally but I couldn't. My best shot at emotions was being flirtatious. There were so many things inside me that I struggled to express but whenever I was with Clara, I was moved to make efforts.
Compared to the previous women in my life–the ones who contributed to my emotional unavailability.
“WHAT?!” Clara’s shocked voice snapped me out of my thoughts and I grinned.
She turned to me, wrapping her hands around my neck like I meant the world to her.
She broke the hug,”Drake, how did you…”
I placed a finger on her lips, loving the soft feel of her skin.
“Princess, a tech guy can find out anything. Secondly, the perpetrator wasn't so smart. And third, I had to make sure you smiled again,” I finished, withdrawing my hand from her lips and resting it on her cheek.
Her eyes glistened with gratitude as a huge smile spread on her face.
“There's that sexy smile that does things to me,” I mused, watching her avert my gaze like a shy bride.
“That got resolved really fast,” Chris mentioned, his hands sliding up and down Clara's thighs.
I leaned back on the bed with my palms behind me, “That's because the fucker who did this left quite a lot of tracks. The account that started the scandalous posts was a fake profile. So all I had to was..”
“Bzzz bzzz bzzz!”
Chris phone blared through the room, seizing the rest of my words.
He stepped out to take the call, leaving me with Clara who was busy going through her phone in amazement.
“Will you tell me who it is that plotted this?” She suddenly asked.
I was going to tell her but then another idea came to mind.
I slid an arm around her waist, pulling her into me in a way that made her gasp.
“I will, only if you kiss me,” I whispered, watching her face flush.
Clara rolled her eyes, hitting my chest playfully, “Are you seriously going to make me kiss you in exchange for that?”
I nodded my head, “Of course. If you could cry because of the scandal, you should be able to kiss me to know who did it.”
In all honesty, I wasn't sure if that logic made sense. I just wanted her lips on mine and since she usually liked to resist first, I used her curiosity as bait.
She pulled herself away from me, swaying her hair that was a mix of black and silver over her shoulders gracefully.
“What if I don't want to?” She asked, playful resistance obvious in her tone.
I rose up to stand in front of her, rubbing a hand on the back of my neck, “Well, I'll just go. And you'll be happy with how everything is cleared up but you'll not know who. Sad.”
Her jaws dropped and she rose up, looking at me with one of those don't-you-dare expressions with her squeezed lips.
The sight of that made me chuckle softly, “You're not trying to scare me, are you?”
“You bet I am.” She huffed, her eyes narrowing.
This time, I actually laughed. She looked so cute whenever she was trying to act all angry and I couldn't even help it.
“You're bad at faking anger princess. When you're ready to know who, I'll be in my room,” I shrugged, moving my thumb backwards like my room was behind me.
I was only two steps away from her when she pulled me back, her hands circling my neck in an abrupt kiss.
A hand immediately dropped to her waist while the other traced the curves of her legs and we crashed on the wall.
I pinned her hands above her head, while my free hand curled around her neck as our tongues tangled.
Her teeth trapped my lips and I broke the kiss, my body beaming with desire.
“Why so feisty, princess?” I breathed over her flushed face.
“Get used to it. I already kissed you, now tell me who was behind this,” She demanded, her chest heaving.
She wanted to play feisty? Then I could play naughty.
“There's an I in their name. Now whether it's a male or female, you'll only find out after kissing me again,” I said, a smug smile appearing on my lips.
She writhed under my grip, her eyes flickering with subtle annoyance but she couldn't break free.
“Ugh, you're so annoying!” She snapped, tilting her head forwards to kiss me again.
Just before I could press my lips against hers, someone walked through the door, making my brows furrow.
