Autumn Day

Chapter 2  - Present The fall leaves fell into the back yard, even where some pumpkins were scattered on all the sides as if they were decorating a Halloween party that would take place in pack's house. But the reality was different...  The pumpkins had been forgotten thereby some puppies and Jack liked the work done by little ones that he ended up deciding to leave them in there.  Or rather, Jackson just loved children so much, making him left their creation to the others see. He enjoyed being with kids a lot, to the point he even volunteered at a local elementary school where he taught karate to the little ones. And it was looking at this same backyard, he thought that it was only a few days more before 'he be presented' as the new Alpha of the Pack, although by Nature's laws, he was already officially Alpha and the ceremony was only a form of the Pack to confirm that no one would challenge his title. ... Anyway, twenty-four was a very young age to be an Alpha among the werewolves but his father's injuries caused Nature to take his position earlier than usual and pass it on to Jack...  This was a lot to him handle! He had just finished college and started working on his father's company and now besides his job, he would still have the responsibility with the Pack.  The odds of things that could go wrong ran through his mind and he tried the best he could to not think about it... After all, this would only result in unnecessary anxiety at that moment.  He passed his hand through his hair as if that gesture would make him forget the nervousness felt and decided that later he would call Kris to relax since... As he was sure his friend wouldn't be awake at that hour of the day, just a little past six in the morning... ...And meanwhile, on the other side of the country, Kristian was awakened by an annoying phone call... His mother! "...Mm-hmm... Good morning to you too Mom." Kristian's light brown hair fell on his face as he tried to speak, his hazel eyes ignored the light of day and began to close again... Only to reopen with his mother's angry voice on the other end of the line. "Kristian! The ceremony is in a few days and you didn't come home yet!" Yes, the ceremony was also a way of the Pack know who would be the new dominant wolves as they called the wolves that helped the Alpha with their work beyond their mate. In other words, they would know who would be the new Beta, Gamma, and Delta on that day. "Mom... Can you speak a little slower, please...?" "KRISTIAN!!! Are you asleep while I talk to you?!?!" "No mom... Why would I be sleeping? On a weekend? And my first day off in a while, when can I be up at 6 a.m. talking to you?" "Good!" Kristian couldn't believe her answer, she didn't notice he was being sarcastic but he didn't want to argue with her so early, making him ignore her, as usual, as she keeps talking excitedly like a little girl. "Anyway, I called to find out when you're coming home. Or did you forget that in a few days you will become the new Beta of the Pack?" "No, I haven't forgotten. And it's kind of impossible to forget since you called me yesterday to ask the same thing." Slowly Kris began to remember home... His Pack... His friends... All about that little town. "Anyway, I'll be back next week, Mom as I told you. I just have to finish this case that I'm working on, so I don't need to come back here after moving." "Good! That's very good!" It wasn't hard to realize the joy in his mother's voice after hearing the words: come back and moving. "I can't wait to see you all together again... Oh my God! I just remembered when you and Jackson tried to throw a party at the Pack's house while the Alpha was on a business trip. I don't know how you guys didn't think that anyone would call him to tell about it." "And that person was you, mom." "WHAT?! What makes you think it was me? Did you forget that you have a very responsible cousin and younger twin siblings who got very angry when you didn't let them go to that party?" None of this was a surprise to Kris... Neither by the fact they were sold off by his younger diabolical brothers or remembering such an event with his mother's on the phone, it always happened when she called. ... As they said goodbye, her earlier words reminded him of his blue-eyed best friend who helped him to convince his parents that it would be good for him to study in another state even if in the nearby town had a college too. Allowing Kristian to take advantage of the scholarship that he received even if it kept him away from home and everyone he knew... However, being away didn't make him run back into his mother's arms after graduating as a lawyer, his internship eventually became a job opportunity where he worked so far to this day but... Everything was finally over! The madness of the gray buildings, the heavy traffic, even the crazy amount of people at peak times... Soon he would be back home, would return to the place he was born with a new job in a nearby office and less than forty-five minutes by car from his family's house. ... Soon he would be again surrounded by nature which his instincts crave for so much... As well as everyone he knew and like his mother said in the next days he would become Mingan's new Beta along with his best friend, Jack as the new Alpha. But... Something within him remained anxious... Perhaps the thought that he didn't have his other half yet, even after being away for so many years... He would return alone... Or was the hope that maybe he would find his other half, or maybe someone special in his old Town?... He wasn't sure which one it was but keep counting the days to go back.
