DAT CITY
A lady was sprawled on a couch in a spacious sitting room. A bowl of popcorn lay carelessly on the glass that stood beside her, and she reached out to stuff her mouth intermittently. She was clad in bum shorts and a crop top that exposed her tiny belly button. The gold ring on her belly button shone expensively. Her hair was messy, and her laugh resonated throughout the house as she laughed at something funny on her phone.
“OMG, this is so funny.” She laughed again, and her body vibrated in response. She reached for the bowl of popcorn and her brows etched in a frown when she felt the emptiness. She sat up immediately and dropped her phone.
“Petty!” She yelled, and a girl dressed in a maid's uniform rushed out of the kitchen.
“Yes, ma, It’s Patty, ma,” Patty replied while shivering on the spot.
“You dare try to correct me?” She yelled at her.
“No ma”, the maid replied dreadfully.
“What did I say?” She asked vaguely and pointed to the bowl of popcorn that had now gone empty.
“I don’t. . .” Patty stuttered in confusion.
“Speak up, you lowlife”, she shrieked in anger.
“It wasn’t me who served you” Patty managed to mutter in fear.
“So who?” She narrowed her eyes at the poor girl shaking badly in fear. “Call me everyone on duty today” She ordered, and Party scurried into the kitchen room with her heart in her mouth. She came back with four ladies behind her. They filed in a straight line in front of her.
“Who among you brought this?” She glared daggers at them. A jittery girl came to the front and raised her hand slowly.
“It’s me ma”, the girl replied. The empty bowl of popcorn suddenly flew across her head. It was meant to hit her but she dodged it at the last minute. The rest of the maids shivered and stepped back in fear.
“I told you to watch out and refill this bowl, but you went against my order?” The lady yelled with every fiber in her, and it seemed the ground shook. “ What’s your name?”
“Sandy, ma” the maid replied.
“Start monkey jump,” She commanded, and the maid gasped.
Tears welled up in Sandy’s eyes as she started to make the monkey jump. She went up and down and her legs were already feeling numb.
“Every one of you should join her too. You should have reminded her” The lady ordered and all the maids all started the monkey. They jump while moaning in pain.
“Jacqueline” Mr. Sinclair called from the entrance.
“Daddy” Jacqueline sprang up from the couch and rushed to embrace her dad. She eyed the guard who brought in her father’s briefcase contemptuously.
“How was work, big man?” She asked while ushering him to sit.
“It was usual. The company bagged a contract today. It was hectic but worth the stress”, her dad relayed tiredly.
“I can see you look tired” She pouted sadly and rubbed her beard. The maid’s painful moans distracted them and Jacqueline cursed them under her breath.
“What did they do again, Jaq?” Her dad asked.
“They disobeyed me, Dad” Jacqueline made a pitiful face.
“You need to be lenient and patient with them”, her dad advised.
“They are the ones testing my patience” Jacqueline scoffed.
“All of you leave” Sinclair ordered, and the maids limped out in pain after thanking him.
“Dad” Jacqueline flailed her hands in protest.
“They’re human beings, Jaq. They’re prone to mistakes”, Sinclair explained, and pulled her into his arms.
“But they are my maids”, she scoffed.
“I know” Sinclair agreed and patted her back. She sat up hurriedly and looked at her dad in excitement.
“What’s that look?” Sinclair quizzed.
“Go upstairs, freshen up, and I will tell the maids to fix us something for dinner.” She giggled and stood up.
“Her father’s daughter” Sinclair teased, and stood up abruptly.
“That’s me” Jacqueline smirked cockily.
. . . . . . . . . . .
Jacqueline and Sinclair were at the dining table. The sound of cutleries against each other filled the spacious room. Different dishes, fruits, wine, and juice are piled on the table. Two maids stood at a distance in case their attention was needed.
“Dad” Jacqueline called in a low tone.
“What is it Jaq?” Sinclair asked as he flipped through the newspaper in his hand. He liked to read the newspaper during Breakfast and Dinner.
“I’ve finally made up my mind” Jacqueline intoned. “I’m ready to work for the Company”, She said.
Sinclair’s mouth curved into a smile. “You’re making the right choice darling”, he said.
“But I’m not starting from the lowest rank.” She pouted cutely.
“Of course not. My daughter shouldn’t be at the lowest rank” Sinclair assured her and she beamed with smiles.
“I love you, Dad.” She cupped her hands on her cheeks cutely.
Sinclair chuckled at her action. “I love you too darling” He replied. They resumed eating.
“When is Mum coming back?” She asked as she stuffed her mouth with salad.
“She will be back in two days. The conference she went for got extended” He replied.
“I miss her” She pouted cutely.
“If she comes, please leave my wife to me. I miss her too.” He issued a warning, which made Jacqueline laugh.
“I won’t.” She made a puppy face, and they both chuckled in laughter.

TECH ROOM
Alex was busy typing furiously on the computer in the room. He was putting on an earphone and his gaze was fixated on the screen. Marcus entered the tech room stealthily and crept up behind him.
“I can see you” Alex intoned without sparing him a glance.
“You now have eyes behind your head,” Marcus scoffed and quickly covered his mouth when he realized what he said.
“What did you say?” Alex asked after he removed the earphones from his head. Marcus exhaled when he realized he hadn't heard what he said because of the earphones.
“This is the flash drive you requested.” Marcus changed the topic and handed the flash drive to him.
“Okay, let’s do exploits.” He collected the flash drive from Marcus and inserted it into the computer. Different machine language filled the screen’ and Marcus scrunched his brows to grasp what was on the screen, but he couldn’t understand anything.
“The clothes I asked. Have you gotten it?” He quizzed as he continued typing.
“Yes sir. But why do you need new clothes? You just changed your wardrobe last week” Marcus asked curiously.
“I said unbranded clothes, Marcus” Alex groaned in frustration and stopped typing.
“Okay. Why do you need unbranded clothes? You don’t wear them. In fact, you detested them”Marcus pointed out.
“It’s none of your business. Did you get them or not?” Alex scoffed.
“I got them” Marcus sighed in defeat.
“Good” He muttered in response.
“There’s a mail from TAEX WORLD. Your app has been nominated for the most used app of the year category” Marcus relayed proudly.
“Really?” Alex responded rather enthusiastically, which made Marcus roll his eyes at him.
“What is the time?” He asked and flexed his fingers.
“6:30 PM sir” Marcus replied.
“Sh*t” Alex shot out of the chair in a hurry and ran out of the room.
“Boss, what is it?” Marcus ran after him in fear.
“I need to go somewhere” He replied and dashed into his room.
“But you aren’t done with the app?” Marcus’ brows were raised in confusion.
“The app can wait” Alex replied and dashed into the restroom. Marcus stood rooted on a spot with his jaws slacked. His boss had never left an app Unfinished.
“Oh no” He muttered in dread.
