Victoria sat trembling on the hotel room floor, her mind reeling from Barry’s betrayal. The harsh ring of a cell phone cut through the tense silence.
Barry answered, his voice low. “Yeah? Okay, good. Come on up.”
Victoria’s heart raced. “Who was that?”
A knock at the door answered her question. Barry opened it, revealing a familiar face that made Victoria’s blood run cold.
“Amaya?” she gasped, scrambling to her feet.
Amaya sauntered in, her eyes gleaming with triumph. “Well, well. Looks like the perfect Mrs. Sebastian isn’t so perfect after all.”
Victoria’s gaze darted between Barry and Amaya, realization dawning. “You two are working together? But why?”
