Among the crowd, the first rumours of what was happening began to run fast, like wildfire. Some claimed that there was an army of orcs at the gates of the city, who had come to exterminate the entire population. Other rumours spread accusing the nobles of having provoked the war, to increase the production and sale of weapons. Certain people spoke and whispered among the crowds, without being subtle, nor disguised; the sowers told stories, fermented doubts, planted small seeds of terror into the mothers, and anger into the poor people who would lose even the little they had managed to save.
