Prince Kaelen stood on the small hill, not approaching any closer.
Once the battle had ended, he had already come to pay his respects.
He had chosen to bring Lane here because he saw in her the same near-stubborn resilience as General Conlay. Given time, this young she-wolf would never fall short of her father.
Once, he had believed she was destined for that path; the brightest Alpha wolf at High Pack Academy, a future female general who would command armies.
Until she suddenly withdrew from the academy, swiftly formed a mate bond with Ethan of Blackwood Pack, and even announced to the outside world that she was merely a "docile Omega."
He had thought she had chosen the den and cubs, rather than the battlefield and howls.
