Third-person POV Maris stood calmly, wrapped in an old but clean white cloak. She saw Lane charging at her, but she didn't step aside. Instead, her lips twisted into a mocking smile. "I've heard everything," she said. Her voice was rough, like ice cracking. "You were waiting at the mountain's base. You watched them drag me into hell. Lane... you really wanted me dead, didn't you?" She stepped closer, madness and triumphant flickering in her eyes. "Do you think I'd kill myself? No. I'll live longer and better than all of you. Want me dead? It won't be that easy." Lane stopped in front of her. Her golden eyes narrowed sharply. She let out a soft laugh. There was no warmth in it. "Killing you isn't hard," Lane said calmly. "I could do it right now." Her right arm shifted instantly.
