The glow of the campfire flickered across Lane's calm face. She and Vicky exchanged a quick, complicated look.
Ethan was frowning, his Alpha energy making the air feel heavy.
"I'm serious! Before the mate bond completely broke, I felt her last mental scream. She was terrified and in agony!"
Lane poked the fire with a stick. Sparks cracked and flew. She said nothing.
"Lane, I'm not lying! She's in danger! Right before the mate bond snapped, I felt extreme pain coming from her side!"
Ethan growled, the veins in his neck bulging. "A normal injury or passing out wouldn't feel like the bond was being violently trashed and ripped away!"
