Part 10

After the practice, the competition day arrived. As the competition began, she was very tense.

In the first round, each participant who had registered was called to the ramp. When Jenny’s name was called, she stepped onto the stage. As soon as she went up, everyone mocked her, whistled, and tried to weaken her confidence.

The first round of the competition started. First, each contestant had to introduce themselves. After that, they each performed the ramp walk one by one. Jenny’s turn came. She began her performance, but the crowd shouted, booed, and told her to get down from the stage.

Still, she didn’t get discouraged. Ignoring everything, she started performing with confidence. All this time, Aaron had been silent, sitting with his group. When Jenny saw Aaron laughing along with them at her, her courage and confidence disappeared completely.

She could no longer continue her performance. The first round ended, and Jenny was eliminated right away.

What hurt her the most in this competition was not the mocking crowd, but seeing Aaron himself with his friends making fun of her.

Later, Josna also got eliminated. Among all the contestants, the only one who continued through every round was Lisa, from the same batch as Aaron and Jenny, but from a different group. Finally, Lisa won the competition.

After the prize distribution, Lisa came down from the stage. Throughout the whole event, Aaron had ignored Jennifer. But when Lisa won, Aaron went to her, hugged her, and kissed her.

Seeing this, Jennifer was shocked. Aaron didn’t even look at her. When she followed behind him, others mocked her:

“He doesn’t want you. He found a better girl, and still you keep following him? Don’t you have any shame?”

Hearing this, Jennifer cried. She didn’t stay there any longer and went home immediately.

At home, she didn’t tell her mother anything. She only said she had a headache and locked herself in her room, crying.

Many thoughts rushed into her mind:

“Why did Aaron betray me? What’s the point of living like this? It would be better if I just died.”

That night, she couldn’t eat properly. She was full of tension and couldn’t sleep at all.

Part 11

The next morning, Jenny went to see Aaron. The school arts festival hadn’t ended yet, so he was still there. He was sitting under a tree with his friends, and Lisa was also with them.

Jenny, filled with anger and sadness, walked toward them. When Aaron’s friends saw her, they all laughed loudly. Two of them even mocked her by imitating ramp walk movements, making fun of her.

Ignoring them, Jennifer spoke directly to Aaron:

“Aaron, why did you do that to me yesterday?”

Aaron replied casually,

“Jenny, what are you talking about? What did I do to you? Come, sit here.”

Trying to change the subject, he introduced Jenny and Lisa to each other:

“Jenny, this is Lisa, you know her, right? She’s the one who won first place in the fashion show yesterday. And Lisa, this is Jennifer, she was competing with you. Poor girl lost.”

There was a mocking tone in his voice. He laughed while saying it.

Jenny felt like crying, but she held it in. With anger, she asked Aaron,

“What wrong did I do to you for you to reject me like this? And what is your relationship with her?”

Aaron, in anger, said,

“And what is my relationship with you? Just because we got a little close, you thought I would become your boyfriend?”

Lisa, who was standing nearby, got angry and came between them.

“Hey, stop it. What do you mean by relationship with me? For four years, he has been my boyfriend. Do you know why this competition was held in this school? Because of me. This school never had such competitions before. It was only because of my wish that everyone agreed to conduct it.”

Jenny’s words broke as she looked at Aaron:

“So you were cheating both her and me? With me, you…”

Aaron interrupted and whispered so only Jenny could hear:

“If you open your mouth, the whole world will know. I have everything in my hands, you know that. Do you know what it’s like? Food that you’ve eaten too much of… when you taste it again, you start to hate it. Later, maybe, you’ll get hungry again, but by then it will be too late.”

He laughed as he said this.

Jenny cried and said,

“I trusted you so much.”

Aaron, with anger and mockery, replied,

“Even now you can trust me. What betrayal? When everyone kept you away, wasn’t I the one who stood by you as a friend? Didn’t I show you the whole world? Who else would have been with you otherwise? Consider all this competition and everything else as just the return gift for what I gave you. Without me, would you have even stepped on that stage? You know very well you had no ability for this competition. Everyone knows it too. We only let you participate for our enjoyment.”

One of Aaron’s friends added,

“Otherwise, who would go around with you? You’re just a clown, a joker who makes us laugh. That’s why when everyone opposed your participation, Aaron supported you. Do you think it was out of love? Wrong. He was the mastermind behind all this.”

Hearing this, everyone laughed and mocked her even more.

Aaron again turned to Jenny and said,

“I called you a friend, I said I liked you—Lisa knew everything. Just like everyone says, you’re nothing but a clown. Without makeup, you’re just a joker. It would be better if you didn’t live at all. How can you live through all this mockery and insult? Better to die.”

Jenny burst into tears and walked away crying.

One of Aaron’s other friends shouted after her,

“Go die!”

Jenny couldn’t reply to anything. She just walked away crying.

Lisa, however, felt a little uneasy and said softly,

“You shouldn’t have said so much.”

But Aaron remained silent.
