Prologue

Camari Solace Divata. People described her as a "socialite," the label she loathe. It cast her in a lurid and ridiculous light, implying a life of privileged frivolity where everyone fits around from one party to the next wearing calculated clothes and expensive smiles. But having her father as the Senate President and her mother as a former Prima Donna. She guess she really can't avoid that label.

Playing pretend as a perfect family from a perfect couple really makes her sick.

"Mom? Do we really have to do this?" Camari asked her mother who is busy checking out the pictures that her hired private photographers took for them.

"No. I don't like this one, my pose here is a bit awkward. And this one. This angle look so good let's another shots and please dear, find a good lighting." But Camari's mother, Celeste is busy talking to the photographer.

"Mom!" Camari shouted feeling so frustrated.

But her mother still ignores her.

"Take a lot of good shots okay?" Celeste said to the photographer before he gets back into his position. When the photographer left she finally look into her daughter's face.

"Of course. We need it, sweetie. We have to do it to show to everyone that our family is doing okay." Celeste sips on her wine while looking into the man who's approaching their table.

"Right, honey? Good publicity is the best to use as a cover up?"

Camari's Dad, Joaquin, who just arrived at their table rised his eyebrow. "Of course. Good publicity is the best since scandal is not good next into our family's name."

Camari saw how her parents stare into each other. It's not a stare that you would give into your spouse. A stare lack of love, It's like they're checking out each other like mortal enemies.

Camari cleared her throat. "So, can I leave this table now?" She's eying the two of them. She really can't stand in the same place with her parents. Both of them are suffocating.

They both turned on Camari. Her Mom called one of her hired photographer again and ask him to take another picture for them.

Like srsly? how many pictures does she need?

"Let's take another photo before you go." Celeste said and she immediately grab her husband's arm and put it into her waist while she put her hands on Camari's shoulder.

"Honey, put your chin in my shoulder. You need to act sweet kahit sa picture man lang. And you too, sweetie. You need to smile in the camera we are a happy family, remember?"

Camari stop herself from rolling her eyes. I really hate this. She thought.

She forced herself to smile when the photographer said the word 'smile' damn it. Her mom is the most plastic in the world, mahihiya sakanya yung mga mannequin sa mall.

After the photographer taking a few shots, an acquaintance of her parents came to their table and Camari get that chance para umalis sa lamesa nila nang walang paalam.

Camari, jokingly raised both of her hands and nod. "Okay. Just chill."

"So what is this party for again?" Eunice ask while eating the avocado shrimp-cucumber on her plate.

Camari gently pat her cheeks before answering her question.

"Just another charity event. Pampabango nang pangalan, I guess?" She said at inagaw ang cocktail drink na iniinom ni Dareios.

Camari drank the half of it and wink at Darieos bago muling ibinalik sakanya ang inumin.

"Your family is the host of this party pero you're snatching someone else's drink?" patalak ni Dareios pero hindi niya ito pinansin.

Instead Camari focused on Daiki, her beloved boyfriend. She faced him and put her hands on his shoulder. "So how are you today, handsome?"

He run his hand on her hair and put it behind her ear. "Not so good but everything's okay since you're here with me, beautiful."

"Who the heck is dating? He's not my type." Azalea said and has a frown on her face when she move closer to Darieos and gave him a kiss on the lips. All of them look away, Eunice even cleared her throat. The kiss last for a seconds before Azalea sat beside Dareios.

"She's not my type either." Ani ni Callahan habang nakangiwi. He sat in on the sofa next to Eunice.

"What a great actors." Eunice whispered enough for her friends to hear. Azalea glare at her.

Dareios snorted. "You guys are so boring."

"So what do you want us to do, Dareios? Gayahin ka namin? Pretend that we are in a relationship and use it as a cover up for your dirty business?" Mahinang sabat ni Eunice.

Who's in their right mind that will make a fake relationship with their friend and use her as a cover up para makapag-landi ng patago? It's Dareios. Siya lang 'yong kilala ni Camari na walang sinasanto na kahit sino.

Camari sigh. "Promise me you won't do that teacher again okay? Stop putting Azalea in a tight spot and please stop screwing up teachers and faculty members okay?"

Darieos nod. "So I can do the principal instead?"
