I had racked my brain for days trying to think of who would have hated me so much to threaten my children. An answer came to me one evening when I was brushing Kyla’s hair. I had totally forgotten my encounter with Roxie. I was not sure if she was going to act on her threat. I could not quit my work for her when I had just started to enjoy the benefits of working a decent job. All I had to do was ignore and stay clear off Drake’s path.
