I stood up abruptly and started following her. "Where are you going to? We have not finished our meeting." I heard Drake's voice. I did not turn to look back as I was on a mission. My mission was to find Hazel in whatever hole she had run to. Was it a coincidence or just good luck? I had come here to negotiate with Drake and had ended up finding my long lost mate. But I knew something, this was a second chance given to me to make things right and I wasn't going to let it slide.I pushed a few people that were in front of me to make way. One guy yelled obscenities but I did not care, I wanted to find Hazel before she could disappear again from my life. I didn't know I missed her so much until I saw her. My beast was pushing through in an attempt to take control but I wasn't about to let him free. I don't trust him one bit when it comes to Hazel. I can't have his longing ruin things for us. Coming across the only door she disappeared into, I tried Pushing it open only to realize that it was locked. “Hazel, open this door or I am going to break it." My voice was heard above the club's music. Silence! "Alpha, she won't open the door with you screaming. She is afraid of you. Maybe you could try a different approach." Alex, who had followed me, whispered in my ear. His voice irritated me more. "What other approach?" I asked. My wolf was itching and pushing me to break the door. It had been five long years of yearning and my wolf was not willing to wait any longer. It was my human side that was being a little bit reasonable. "Let me go talk to her. She is a flight risk and you don't want her escaping again. Your wolf will not wait for another five years." "Then hurry. I will wait here." I said as I shifted anxiously. "Hazel. Open up, it's me Alex." Alex said gingerly. There was no response. My wolf was getting impatient and my human side was getting irritated. I was almost pushing Alex aside to break the door when it opened. She peeped through the small opening, pushed the door closed again but I blocked it using my left foot. “What do you want?” “We are not going to hurt you. We need to talk to you.” Alex pleaded with her. “I have nothing to say to you.” Hazel said. “I am so sorry I hurt you Hazel. I was a fool, please forgive me.” I said as soon as I pushed the door open and entered. It was only the two of us, Alex had remained on the other side. He was manning the door and watching out for Drake in case he started to stir up some s**t. Hazel was shocked by my confession. She was angry too, this I could see in her eyes and the way the vein at the side of her face ticked. “I do not want to talk to you.” She said angrily, her eyes now on me. “Please give me a chance to explain. I was a fool for rejecting you and I regret it.” I started. “I don’t need your apology. Please leave me alone. Go back to your pack. I am fine without you.” Hazel cut me short. I wanted her to listen to me, to accept my apology and tell me that she had forgiven me. I wanted her to embrace me and let our wolves meet and dance with joy for finally, after five long years, being in the same place. I had realized that I had made a big mistake by rejecting her, she was my one and only true mate. No other wolf could calm my wolf like hers did. “Please, I am begging you. I love you and you are my true mate.” I begged. I would do anything for her to come back. Now that I had accidentally found her, I did not want her to slip through my fingers. She looked at me with a mixture of anger and disdain. “:Love? You know nothing about love. You don’t reject someone you love. You don’t throw away your mate, introduce another woman as your mate and still claim to love them. Go back to your Serena.” She said, Her hazel eyes brimmed with tears, almost falling, but she blinked. She was determined not to show any weakness. Five years ago she had been a weak young woman, not yet out of her teens. Now she was a bold young woman whom life had dealt with. She had not gone through the fire only to come and melt at the insincere apology Noah was dishing out. “We are not together anymore.” I said as I moved close to her. She raised her hands in defiance. “Please do not come close to me or I will claw out your eyes before screaming bloody murder.” She stood still, her eyes watching me like a cat ready to pounce in case I did not heed to her order. “What can I do to make you believe that I am sorry? I was a fool.” I continued pleading. “It does not matter, I have moved on now.” She said while raising her shoulders to make herself look tall. She was beautiful. The last time I saw her she had been an angry young woman who had been scorned and rejected. Now her features were pronounced, her skin was smooth and my hands were itching to touch her despite her several warnings. She was looking mature for her age. She did not lower her head, to show respect as required. “Are you going to leave or should I call security? She asked when she realized that I was not going to move away from the door until I got an answer. “Come back home, to the pack I mean. You belong there.” I continued persuading her. “No I do not. I am no longer a member of your pack. Leave me alone.” She said loudly. The good thing was that the music prevented others from listening in on our conversation, otherwise I would have had to kill someone for eavesdropping. Someone was coming. He stopped at the door and called out to Hazel. I could hear Alex’s voice telling him to give Hazel a few minutes to finish. I turned to look at Hazel and she looked at me with resolve. It was like she had been rehearsing for this day, this moment. “I reject you as my mate Alpha Noah. Please do not ever come near me.” She said and pushed me to the side before walking out and stomping on my heart with her words. I had not known that rejection could hurt this much. Is this how Hazel had felt five years ago? I could feel my heart breaking into pieces. My wolf wanted to follow her but the pain had rooted my body to the ground. “Alpha? Are you okay?” I heard a voice from a distance.
