The next few days were much of the same for Lily. She was even able to bear Alexei's presence when he'd call her into his study to discuss wedding invitations and decor ideas with her.
"I think we should have beige table cloths," Alexei said with a smile one fine morning.
Lily simply nodded and agreed wondering why a man who should be worrying about the kingdom was worrying about table cloths?
"And of course your family is coming," Alexei spoke jovially as they ate lunch a few days later.
Lily merely nodded at the lunch table, keeping her head down.
"You don't smile as much anymore," Alexei spoke up ominously.
Lily suddenly looked up at Alexei who was looking at her instead of his lunch.
"I wish you'd smile like you used too." There was a thinly veiled threat behind his word
