ENDGAME II
Pondering on events, Annie looked around, still shaking from the thought of having come so close to death so many times over the last few hours. Just then, she spotted a slight movement nearby and her eyes locked in on it, partly fearful that yet another terrorist was going to attack.
She just as quickly relaxed and heaved a sigh of relief.
Her little brother stood silently about 10 feet away, eyes as dark and haunted as the night surrounding them.
“Darren!” She was thrilled to see that her little brother was safe and sound. “Come here!”
She opened her arms wide, beckoning to him. The boy remained firmly planted to the ground as if he’d been superglued there, not moving and not saying a word.
