The room was already dark when I woke up. Right then, I heard the sound of the door opening. I bolted upright. Godfather Nick was startled to see me when I suddenly emerged from the room.
"You said you’d only be gone a moment, Godfather," I complained as I approached him. But only a hesitant smile escaped Godfather's lips. That’s when I realized he had been drinking.
"Sorry baby, a friend invited me out for a drink," he explained, pulling me close and giving me a hug. "Did you miss me, hmm?"
"I fell asleep. You said you’d wake me up when you got back, but you were late, so now I’m late too."
"It’s okay, let’s just have dinner delivered," he said, still holding me. I managed to pat him on the back.
"I think you’re the one who missed me, Godfather," I joked, making him give a dry laugh.
