I pull away slightly and look at him, ready to ask if we're good now. I didn't realize how close he was going to me to my face. It seems to startle him too because he blinks and shifts his head back a bit. My heart starts thudding even harder in my chest when his eyes scan my face, falling onto my lips for a second. He locks eyes with me again before smiling and breaking eye contact. I rest my head on his shoulder and wait for my heartbeat to slow down.
