Chapter 14Drew’s already potent well of power surged. I felt it like an engine against my skin revving to full speed. He’d connected to a ley line I hadn’t noticed. Taking a look around, I didn’t see it. To figure out where he’d tapped, I focused until I saw the silvery blue line running from him into the ground. Even then, I couldn’t find the line.
The node hadn’t given me much of a boost.
Why had it bothered to bind me? Knowledge, allegedly, but what did that mean? Almost everything I knew was wrong or incomplete.
“You’re not useless,” Drew whispered, like he could read my thoughts.
“What should I do then?” Maybe I snapped at him more harshly than I meant to.
“I’m just a battery, remember? You’re the guide.”
