When I pushed open the heavy oak door of the study, Liam was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with his back to me, on the phone. The second he heard the door, he ended the call guiltily and turned around, swapping his expression for a smile so fake it made me sick. "Babe, you're finally done." He hurried toward me, his eyes locked on the document in my hand. The greed in them was practically spilling over. I ignored his eagerness and walked straight to the large mahogany desk. I pulled out the wide leather executive chair and sat down. The desk had been custom-made. Enormous. The front of it was sealed by a thick solid-wood panel that completely hid the space below.
