Once June followed Molly to the bathroom Grayson explained what had happened. I have been so content in June’s presence that I hadn’t noticed Anne was here at all, let alone that she was giving June dirty looks. If I had then I wouldn’t have let her get away with her behaviour.
I was so annoyed that I wanted to have a private word with her about it but now she was nowhere to be seen. It was too much to hope for that she would have gotten bored and gone home. She was probably waiting somewhere to have some kind of confrontation with us. That was more her style.
I can’t believe that I ever let a woman like that get anywhere near me. All she had ever wanted from me was the power and attention that dating the future beta would bring her. She never really liked me at all.
