Forty-Nine - Ezra

1114 Words

After yesterday went so terribly wrong I wasn’t sure what to expect when June met her mom again. Part of me was expecting that her mom would lay into me the moment she laid eyes on me, that I would somehow be to blame for everything that went wrong yesterday. I was wrong about that. June’s mom was already sitting inside the coffee shop when we arrived. When she saw us she saw us approaching she got to her feet and waved us over. I kept my hand on the small of June’s back as we approached, partially to give her comfort but mostly because I needed to know that she was close to me. From the moment I marked her all of my instincts went into overdrive. I wanted to protect her and touch her constantly, even having her leave me for a few minutes to use the bathroom made me feel uncomfortable.
