The journey to the King's estate was lengthy and uncomfortable solely because I sat facing the horrible Prince in the carriage, he sat holding a book up, I don't know if its a regular book or a book that tutor you on how to be a king.
he sure needs to get a "how to be a good king" edition, cause he'd sure make a terrible king if he keep on going this way, I smiled in my head, trying to keep that smile from spreading to my face.
"oh she blush's" he suddenly said from behind the book, then he dropped the book by his side to look at me pointedly.
wtf, how did he see me blush, blu....blu, heck I don't blush, I feel like a teenager caught in the act, he won't get away with this.
"I was thinking of how you'd be a terrible king in the near future, your subjects don't know what is coming to them" I said and smirked.
I could tell he didn't like my guts "you are a sharp one I see" he stared at me for the longest of moments, "if it makes you feel any better, I'm not the next king after my father, I have an older brother, so our subjects are not doomed, thank you for your concern"
he looks a bit angry, at least I've learnt a thing about him, second son eh, and most of all the kingship is not a safe topic around him.
"you hungry?" he spoke after several minutes.
"when are we going to arrive at this estates?"
"I believe I asked you a question first, lady" uh, I don't even like his tone, or am I being too dramatic?.
I won't take a slice of bread from this rude man not even if it kills me, then my stomach decided to give a response, my stomach growled so loudly, there was no doubt he heard that too.
"that settles it" he picked up a basket I hadn't noticed was sitting by the chairside all along.
"we have short supplies, but I believe it should be more than enough for you, except if your case is rare" I could tell he was trying so hard not to laugh
"what do you mean by "if my case is rare?" I asked.
"you know, you've not been acting like all the ladies I've met, I used think women were supposed to be alike to some extent, but you are rather divergent"
is he crazy, I feel like throwing him off the carriage, "i know you well, remember we have a little secret?" he continued
"i would never share a secret with a sadist like you" I retorted
he whispered, just so I can be the only one to hear him "odd hours, or shall we say midnight trips"
"you know what?, I don't know you before now but I hate you already what a wonderful personality" I shot him daggers through my eyes.
"I don't like you either, I sincerely don't fancy you, you are odd for a female and even too awkward to be a male in gown" he met my eyes with such coolness that makes me want to tie him to the carriages tires.
"I hope you don't leave at your father's castle" I mumbled
"on that note, you have absolutely no luck, cause I live in the castle you see" he winked at me.
what kind of a psycho son is this, I ran my hand over my face "I had better stay at the estate instead and look after the place"
"I repeat, no such luck" he pushed the basket towards me.
I yanked it out of his grip, I know I act like I've lost it sometimes, but there's just no way you won't loose your cool around this man.
he c****d one brow, "you don't have to fight with me over the basket, there's enough for both of us"
"will you just shut up" I shouted.
then the moment became more awkward, I believe the coachman would have heard that if its quite enough out there, and what's more is that the Prince is my better, shouting at him was a bad call and now I see that.
"I'm...I'm sorry, I... didn't mean to yell at you" I offered an apology
he simply reached for a bread and continued with his book, he said nothing at all after such a long time, I feel like pleading with him not to mention it to his father, a part of me says "he wouldn't.. he's a grown man", and another kept saying "he just might".
" I actually didn't mean to...." the carriage grounded to a halt.
he took his book and carried the food basket, just then the coachman opened the door, he alighted without sparing me a glance, I came down from the coach gently.
the estate was simply magnificent, the mere sight of it took my breath away, for a moment I almost forgot I had issues with the Prince, I looked at him, he is almost at the mansions door, I followed immediately, I wouldn't want to get lost in this huge mansion.
I thought I've seen it all the ornate door was a sight for the sore eyes, large enough that door footmen had to open it, then we stepped into the lavish room, I think this should be a sitting area, I was taking in all the sights I can while trying to chase after William.
we went up some stairs and finally we stopped at a larger room, even bigger than the first one I saw, the room over looks at least 2 acres of lands, I'm not an expert so I'm not so sure, but the wide spread lawn was something to look at.
"there they are, how's the journey my dear" the king stood from his chair.
"it was good your majesty, thank you for bringing me along" did that sound awkward or is it in my head, I don't know what to say to the king after he agreed to cater for me.
"good to hear, and how are you son" he picked a bottle of scotch and gestured for William to pick a cup
"it was good, and how's the mill looking, you've been there right"
"trust me to, does Eliza care for a glass of scotch?" he asked slightly raising his glass in the air
"I'm fine for now, thank you your highness" I bowed slightly
"now that is something we would have to work on, please don't call me your highness thirty times a day" he smiled lovingly, kind of reminded me of my dad.
a maid came into the room, she is an older woman, probably around her late 50's or early 60's, she breezed past me "Will my boy" she extended her hands to William.
"Rose" he embraced the woman "how I've missed you and your humor" he smiled and I can say this is the first time I will ever see him smile so genuinely.
the woman pulled back from the embrace and lightly pulled his cheeks on both sides, she said something I didn't catch, then the both of them burst into laughter.
"let's get you settled in" the woman faced me then "forgive my manners miss, it's just been a while since I've seen my Willy here"
"it hasn't been a year" he responded her
"does it have to?" she whispered to me "he has always been head strong" I smiled at her to trying not to ruin her fun "come with me, you need to settle in and have some rest after that journey"
I followed the woman out of the room and down the corridor, finally we came to a door "the king said you are a special visitor, so I tried to make this place look good enough"
special visitor?, my thoughts disappeared as I was showed to my room, everything here speaks comfort, the bed was big, not dramatic but twice the size of my bed at the Inn, there was a table sitting beside the bed.
there was a clothe hanger on the wall, the floor was covered in cream coloured rug, as much as I wanted to jump on the bed to feel its texture I stopped myself, that will be for some other time when I'm alone, I never realised the sight of comfy room can bring one so much relief, maybe leaving the Inn wasn't such a bad idea.
"there are clothes you can change into" she gestured towards the hanger.
"but before then Is there anything you'd like me to get for you while you're settling in?, food, a hot bath anything?" Rose asked while helping me to a cup of tea.
"the hot bath doesn't sound too bad" I couldn't resist.
"you can undress for the bath, I'd have Joanne prepare the tub" she exited the room.
I walked towards the hanger, there's a lot of clothes on it, courtesy of the king I presume, I went through the clothes, then picked out a silk nighty, I don't even know what it's called in this time line.
I lay it out on the bed and reached for the white towel on the bedside, all I could think of right now is getting out of this clothes and getting that hot bath.
I started to peel my clothes off, I was about reaching for my bra strap when I heard a sharp inhalation behind me, now realising I didn't take a moment to lock the door I quickly reached for the towel and wrapped it around myself.
I turned to the sight of a shocked William, he stood halfway through the door, mouth a bit agape, I feel like an i***t, every average human should lock the door behind them while undressing.
"I... I, sorry I... I was" he stopped himself for a moment, shut his eyes and stood still for a second.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to barge in on you, this used to be a spare room, I stay here sometimes, I never knew, I'm sorry to embarrass you " he met my eyes then.
"it's okay, I should've locked the door too" he looked a bit sorry for invading my privacy, but there was another look in his eyes, a look that makes me wonder just how long he has been at the door.
