The weight of everything pressed down on Maria as they walked through the hall. She remembered her notebook she used for records.
“Could you hold on a second, I need to grab my notebook.”
“Hurry up.” He said.
She headed for her desk, scrambling through the drawer until she found the blue notebook. She grabbed it immediately and rushed back to meet John. She couldn't find him in the hall so she headed outside.
“Have you seen John?”” She asked Steve,
“I saw him leaving not long .” Steve responded.
“Thanks.” She said as she rushed out to the entrance. She saw him drive off.
She stood there for a moment, notebook still in her hand as she watched him drive away without stopping for a second.
“He didn't even wait,” she said under her breath.
