“Please, they’ve kidnapped my wife! "And" they are also armed, and I don’t know where they’re taking her!” he cried, his voice filled with urgency. As he hung up, he knew he couldn’t just wait for help to arrive. He had to find Aisha. He remembered the conversations they had about her work and the potential threats they had discussed. He quickly gathered his thoughts and decided to follow the van, hoping to track them down. Tolu jumped into his car and sped off, his heart pounding in his chest. He kept his eyes peeled for the van, praying he wouldn’t lose them in the chaos of the city. After what felt like an eternity, he spotted the vehicle turning down a narrow alleyway. He followed cautiously, trying to remain unnoticed. The van came to a stop in front of an abandoned warehouse. Tolu parked a safe distance away and watched as the armed men exited the vehicle, dragging Aisha inside. He felt a mix of fear and anger boiling within him. He couldn’t let them hurt her. Taking a deep breath, Tolu formulated a plan. He remembered the self-defense techniques he had learned during his training for community workshops. He would have to be smart and strategic. He quickly scanned the area for anything he could use as a weapon or distraction. As he approached the warehouse, he noticed a pile of old crates nearby. He quietly moved to the side of the building, trying to stay out of sight. He could hear Aisha’s voice inside, pleading with her captors. The sound fueled his resolve. Tolu’s heart raced as he crept closer to the warehouse, the muffled sounds of Aisha’s cries echoing in his ears. He could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on him, but he pushed through the fear. He had to save her. As he reached the side of the building, he spotted a broken window. He peered inside, trying to gauge the situation. The dim light illuminated the interior, revealing the three armed men standing around Aisha, who was tied to a chair. Her eyes were wide with fear, but they lit up with hope when she saw Tolu’s silhouette outside the window. “Tolu!” she cried, her voice trembling. “Please, get out of here! It’s too dangerous!” But Tolu couldn’t leave her. He had to act. He took a deep breath and prepared to make his move. Just as he was about to enter through the window, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching from behind him. Panic surged through him as he turned to see one of the armed men, who had been stationed outside as a lookout. "My friend!" the man shouted, raising his weapon. Tolu’s instincts kicked in, and he lunged forward, but the man was quicker. He tackled Tolu to the ground, the two of them grappling for control of the gun. “Get off me!” Tolu shouted, struggling against the man’s weight. But the armed man was strong, and he quickly overpowered Tolu, pinning him down. “Looks like we’ve got ourselves a little hero,” the man sneered, pulling Tolu to his feet. “You shouldn’t have come here.” Tolu’s heart sank as he realized he had walked right into their trap. The other two men emerged from the warehouse, dragging Aisha out behind them. She was still tied to the chair, her eyes filled with terror as she watched Tolu being restrained. “Let her go!” Tolu shouted, in desperation clawing at his throat. “You don’t have to do this!” The leader of the group stepped forward, a cruel smile on his face. “Oh, but we do. You see, you’ve made things complicated for us. We can’t have you running to the police and ruining our plans.” Before Tolu could react, the men pulled out a length of rope and began to tie his hands behind his back. “What are you doing?” he yelled, struggling against them. “You can’t do this!” “Just a little insurance policy,” the leader said, his voice dripping with malice. “We wouldn’t want you to get any funny ideas, now would we?” Tolu’s heart raced as he realized the gravity of the situation. They were going to use him as leverage against Aisha. The men finished tying him up and then pulled out a small device that looked like a bomb. Tolu’s eyes widened in horror as they strapped it around his waist. “What is that?” he gasped, panic rising within him. “Just a little something to ensure you don’t try anything stupid,” the leader said, his eyes glinting with satisfaction. If you try to escape or alert anyone, this little device will go off. And we wouldn’t want that, would we? Aisha’s eyes filled with tears as she watched the scene unfold. “Tolu, no!” she cried, her voice breaking. “Please, just do what they say!” The men began to drag Aisha away, and Tolu felt a surge of helplessness wash over him. “Aisha!” he shouted, but she was being pulled further away, her cries echoing in the night. “Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of her,” the leader taunted, turning to Tolu with a sinister grin. “You’ll see her again soon—if you’re lucky.” Just then, Tolu heard the distant sound of sirens approaching. The police were on their way, but he knew he had to act fast. “You won’t get away with this!” he shouted, trying to buy time. “The police will find you!” The men exchanged glances, their expressions shifting from confidence to concern. “We need to move,” the leader said, urgency creeping into his voice. “Get her in the van!” As they hurried to load Aisha into the vehicle, Tolu felt a surge of adrenaline. He couldn’t let them take her. He had to find a way to escape. With his hands tied behind his back, he began to twist and turn, trying to loosen the ropes.
