Chapter 5 - The Wedding

Ipkis had gone back to town with Doctor Hopkins driving behind him as he went to visit his father. When he got to the environment of his father’s house, he noticed a few things:

(Ipkis) “Why are so many werewolves in our compound today? And I saw a few of them looking hungry and restless on the way home”. They did charge towards him, having sensed that he was human from afar, and on getting there, discovered that it was Ekroffs’ son, and became frustrated. As he made his way into the compound, they made away from him.

(Ipkis) “This has never happened in our house. What is happening here? A Swam of Werewolves”. His father was getting married at Evras’ instruction, and it had to be quick. It was a ritual to protect him, since Evra knew that the daughter of Artemis had arrived, and it would be a danger to her agenda on the earth. Evra was scared of Joana, even though she wasn’t violent. Evra knew that Joana had something stronger, for she carried real power which could defeat her. She had the Aster Kinge.

As he parked his vehicle and hurriedly went off in anger, he said to himself “So my father had planned to remarry all this while, why didn’t he inform me? I wasn’t going to stop him, he did need a wife. While he muttered these words to himself and walked towards the huge garden space beside them, where the wedding was being held, his Father sighted him coming, as he put forth a long face, seeing that he was angry about not being carried along.

He then beckons him to come, saying go:

(Ekroff) “Ipkis! Kindly come over here!” and although he was angry, he wasn’t a disobedient person, he went ahead to his father, and they greeted him with kisses on their cheeks. “Where have you been, son? I have been sorely worried about you. I know you have been a lot recently, trying to manage 3 of our businesses at the same time.

(Ipkis) I have been around, I had to seek out some businesses in nearby towns and cities from here. We need to think of expansion.

(Ekroff) “Is that why you didn’t come home for two days?”.

(Ipkis) “Yes Dad…! As he stutters to answer”. Then he was asked by him again, then he answered authoritatively, “Yes Dad”. His answers were as brief as the father spoke with him. All he wanted to do was to just take some rest away from all the dramas he had recently encountered, from saving a young girl whom he thought was in danger of an Agelon snacking on her, to getting stuck with her from what Doctor Hopkins advised and now this? My father got married to a werewolf from another pack, just to have control over them. I know that it is his agenda.

(Ekroff) “Come, come Ipkis, come meet her, and as he tries to pull his hands close, so he can come close enough to see her, whilst she sat, he suddenly gets drawn away, by some of them in his father’s pack, who were dancing and moving in circles. Ipkis got pulled, lifted, and was thrown up and down in their midst.

(Ipkis) “Come off it, put me down! I don’t have the strength, put me down…!”, but they didn’t listen to him, they were so engrossed in the celebration of the day, while his father and new bride were entertained, so he allowed them.

After a while, they dropped him and let him go, so he just walked to a place to sit. Then the music was put to a stop, and as his father stood up to speak, there was a great sudden silence.

(Ekroff) “My dear Agelons, I have been your father for a while, and I am still here today. We unify with another pack of Werewolves, “the triads”, who are as strong as we are, in a bid to prepare for war. Evra has commanded us to take this route. We all know that the greatest enemy of Werewolves has been born, we don’t know who it is, and he might be here”. This he said, assuming that it must be a he, since the prophecy had been consistent with reincarnation as a male. Ipkis was sore and cold as he heard the words. Then he managed to maintain silence and only spoke to himself in Soliloquy.

(Ipkis) “Oh my God, Joana is the one they are probably looking for. Now I understand why one of the Agelon attacked her the other day. Oh! Innocent young girl, how is she going to come out of this?”. He began to imagine such a force and decision taken, only for just one girl. So he stood up, walked to the house, and entered the restroom, where he could maintain the utmost privacy. He decided not to call, to avoid anyone eavesdropping on his conversation, so he rather sent a message through his social media account to Joana.

(Ipkis) “Top of the day to you! How are you and where are you?”.

(Joana) “ I am good, howdy? I hope you are okay too. I am at home, just taking a rest, watching this big wedding ceremony live on the TV set”.

(Ipkis) “Wow really? Where is it taking place? Did you check for the location where the wedding is taking place?”

(Joana) “Why did you ask? You know I haven’t had the chance to go out, since I came into town with you, but I remember seeing the urban center of Anakoz from the beginning”. Then Ipkis says “Hmmm”, as Joana further probs “What is it, are you okay, are you alright?

(Ipkis) “No I am fine, I was just worried about you, I was troubled about you. Defied the advice and went out. I just wanted to make sure that you were okay. Please don’t go out, or at least not alone. The times are dangerous, and you might have a lot of people out there who have crosshairs on you. We just have to be careful, especially about your security”.

(Joana) “Okay, I agree with this, I am right here. Are you scared of me? When are you coming back?

(Ipkis) : “Really soon, but I will let you know. It won’t be long. I just have to do something for my father and it will be back before you know it, okay”.

(Joana) “yes. The groom is not a young folk like you. I heard him speak about some big enemy of Werewolves, who they needed to go after before the station got shut down. That is weird on a wedding day you know, such a speech for a wedding day. There were a lot of persons in attendance, he seemed to be an important man in the urban center of Anakoz”.

(Ipkis) “oh really! I didn’t see, I am not watching, but just make sure you don’t go anywhere, please. Just stay indoors and I will be with you soon okay, we don’t want a repeat or worse of what happened the other time, the area might be full of werewolves, crawling to devour you and I won’t have you take such a risk, I will see you soon”.

(Joana) responds “Okay” as she becomes skeptical about why his sudden call and insistence that she remain indoors. At first, she began to think that she might be having an impending attack soon, in the house by intruders, etc.
