Last Day of School

1347 Words
"Victor, it's time to wake up!" He hears his grandma yelling and poking him in his covers. He rubs his sleepy eyes and gradually opens them. He notices his alarm buzzing off and the birds chirping the lovely melody of nature. Only then did he realize what he saw and what he thought was real, was a dream! "No way!" He thought to himself. "Something that real can't be a dream!" He exclaims as he turns his alarm off and tosses his pillows in disbelief of reality. He was so astonished his jaw dropped as he thinks of it. He wanted to go back and finish what he had dreamt of, but he knows that school would not wait. He didn't feel like going to school as he still was in a daze, so he layed down for a few more minutes and tossed the pillows a couple more times in frustration. Soon, the smell of newly cooked eggs and bacon was already calling to him from the kitchen downstairs, and his belly was also feeling empty. So in the end, he unwillingly rose up and went down to the kitchen. In the kitchen, his grandma was washing the dishes and cleaning up the table. "Good Morning Grandma." He greets though he was still in a bit of distraught. "Good morning too, dear!" His Grandma answers back with a bright smile. "You better hurry up, or you're gonna miss the bus!" His grandma warns. He was confused, so he took a peek at the clock. It was already 6:37 a.m. and he has to catch the bus to school at 7:00 a.m! So, he rushed back upstairs and to the bathroom to take a brisk bath. Victor's thoughts about his remarkable dream were soon replaced with the thought of missing school if he wouldn't hurry. Seeing how Victor was in a rush, his grandma couldn't help but let a giggle out as she was watching Victor march to-and-fro from the kitchen, but Victor didn't notice as he was too occupied with the I-woke-up-late panic. After taking a bath and barely dressing up, he bolted downstairs to get his packed lunch while he was still buttoning his shirt. Even though he was in panic, he managed to bid his grandma goodbye. In just a few minutes,Victor was off, and the thought of him getting ready for school in such a fast speed made his grandma giggle once again. He got to the waiting shed to catch the school bus and he was lucky enough to still be right on time. He went up the bus stairs and he looked for an empty seat, but all the kids who sat next to an empty seat seemed uninterested with having him as company. This sight wasn't new to him so he just sat at his favorite window seat, which wasn't always taken by others. He sighed as he sat in comfort, and looked at his rumbling belly. He was hungry as he missed breakfast, so he ate a sandwich ,which was supposed to be eaten later, and left the other food in the bag for lunch. Nobody really sat beside him on the bus, so he was lonely most of the time, but it didn't really bother him, as he was more of a loner. He was used to the rumors people tell about him and his family. The rumor was that you'd fall into bad luck if you get linked with the Wiyelt family, for some count their family as cursed. Nevertheless Victor is uninterested with other people, so it's a mutual feeling for all. A couple more kids rode the bus after Victor did, yet they all didn't seem to mind him or wanted to sit next to him. He rested his head on his crossed arms on top of the window and enjoyed the peace of being alone and unbothered. From there he watched the familiar view of the trees, people, and the houses the bus usually passed by on the usual route for school, but the bus took a different turn this time around. The driver quickly explained that the road they usually took was being repaired due to damages it already had and that they have to take another road. Victor didn't mind it and went on with watching the unfamiliar view. He noticed that this road was quite his type of place, quiet, peaceful and surrounded by nature, and that it was also in the forest. The road seemed unused for the most part, and he didn't see any other vehicles pass. He saw a few birds and other animals along the way, but he saw a certain path that buzzed his thoughts. They passed by it in a short amount of time, but something about that path felt surprisingly odd for Victor. He didn't think about it that much and concluded that it was just him finding this road new. He got the thought off of his head, but then the thought of his dream bothered him for the rest of the ride. A few tire rolls later, they were out if the forest road and off to school. Victor got off from the bus along with the other kids. It was the last day of school so the children were really lively and excited about summer break, and Victor was too, though he doesn't really show it. He sat in his classes, and didn't really care about anything that day, in other words, his head was wandering off to some other stuff. The bell rang for lunch break and all the kids hurriedly went to the cafeteria to eat their home-made or cafeteria-bought lunches. Nonetheless, lunch wasn't that much of an issue for Victor, so he silently ate one peanut butter and jelly sandwich, it was supposed to be two but he ate one already for breakfast, an apple, and some milk. He was sitting at the back corner where only some kids were around, and where he was was at least comfortable. Victor saw the bullies of the school roaming around taking what seemed good in their eyes, but good thing the bullies don't really pick on Victor, for that would only add to his worries. Soon, the school bell rang once again, and they all headed to their afternoon classes. They all did the same things they did earlier morning, listening to classes that results to sleeping time for most of them, watching the clock tick until the bell rung, but this time the "good-byes" were an addition. After school has ended, the students all hugged their friends. Some even spent more time at school just to play and bond more with their friends, all because it was going to be summer break already, and they were all going to miss each other. Lonely Victor though, didn't have kids he could call as friends so he rode the school bus earlier than most and went straight home. While at the bus, there were only a few students riding with him on the bus. Victor sat at the spot where he was sitting at this morning and there he watched the passing scenery. Soon, the thought of his dream crossed his mind, and he remembered how badly he wants to finish it, although he was already thinking about it while he was at school. Just as he was thinking about it, they passed by the path that bothered his mind, again, but only this time, he saw a figure standing, and for some reason, he knew it staring from a distance, but the figure was too far for him to see who and what exactly it was. The only thing he knew was it was wearing or it was red. The bus was also going faster than usual as a result of only having a few students and the driver was kind of in a rush. Victor once again tried to wipe the thought off his head and soon he was safely home and in the arms of his Grandma again.
