The truth is revealed

1189 Words
He watched as his grandma washed their clothes, and as he ate, he was filled with fear. Though he tried to hide it, his eyes screamed the truth. "What am I so afraid of, it's just me getting injured, right?" He tried to comfort himself. No matter how he tried, it still felt wrong inside. He hurriedly ate breakfast so that he could go back to his grandma, and probably beg her again. He finished his breakfast and he washed the dishes as fast as he could. Once he finally finished doing so, he went back to his grandma. "Can I help there Lala?" Victor asks, hoping that his grandma would agree. "Hmm, what time is it already?" She asks back. "It's already 9:47. Why do you ask, Lala?" Victor replies. "If it was already 10:30 I would let you take over here because I need to cook, but it's only a quarter till ten so I'll do it myself." She explains. "Oh okay." Victor says as he turns around and walks away. "Is there any reason why you want to do the washing?" She asks as Victor took his steps away from her. "I just thought you'd be tired from cooking all the food yesterday, Lala" Victor smiles as he turns his head back to his Grandma. "Well, I've had my rest yesterday, no need to worry." She assures, but Victor just felt more and more anxious. Victor responded with a nod and an understanding expression. He went back to the table and decided to go outside to their backyard again to calm his nerves. He walks towards the back door through a dark part in their kitchen. He opens the door, and the fresh ocean breeze greets him. The sun is high up and the clouds are giving harmony to the sun's beating rays. He takes his steps towards his favorite spot, while his hair was struck by the light of the late-morning sun. His hands travel through the tall grasses and the dragonflies that were buzzing around. He sits down on the tree shade and looks at the beautiful view of the ocean. He looks at the ships both big and small as their sails get driven by the wind. He marvels at the waves crashing to the sea shore, and how it would be nice to go for a swim, yet it was too hot and he'd probably get sunburnt if he swam in the ocean right now, so he kept the idea for later. The scenery faded his worries out of his troubled mind, and soon he was already resting his head upon the tree trunk. He inhales as the waves go back and forth again and again, creating a sound of pure relaxation. He closes his eyes, and hopes that this wouldn't end. He got up and opened the little gate they had in their backyard, and he approached the sea waters. Victor didn't mind getting tan for he was young and wanted to play. He takes his shoes off and walks the sea shore with his bare feet. He rolled up his pants, exposing his wounds from his minor bicycle accident, and so he played. He kicked, jumped and even sat at the water. He was in joy but as the waves reached his wounds, a stinging feeling made Victor get goosebumps. He laughed at his feelings and soon he was out playing more in the waters. He forgot the pain and fear in his heart and he was filled with this ball of happiness in his heart. His moment got cut off with the sound of his grandma opening the back door, it usually didn't sound that loud, but this time he knew it wasn't the door, it was his grandma furiously opening it. He swallowed his saliva as his grandma came closer. He could feel his knees turn to jelly as he wanted to run, but it felt as if his legs would not work. As his grandma took her steps, she heard a c***k beneath her foot. She looked down and found Victor's watch, the one that he dropped when he went out. She picks it up and walks in a faster pace. Victor then remembered the night he snuck out, and how he foolishly didn't pick up his watch from the ground. His thoughts were rumbled. His sides fought against each other. The bad side telling him to run while the good side told him to stay. Nevertheless, his fear overpowered him. He fell to the sea, sitting on the sand, as his grandma reached the shore. "Come here, Victor. You have a lot of explaining to do." She yells to Victor whose back was getting slapped by the waves, yet he didn't seem to notice as he was too occupied worrying. Without a second to waste he gets up and unwillingly walks toward his angry grandma. As soon as he was close his grandma grabs him by the ears and drags him inside. Victor felt more in pain as if his ears were about to fall off and his wounds were sore from all the salt water. His grandma made him sit down in the kitchen chair, and carries his blood stained clothes to the table from the washing area. His eyes widened in shock and his anxiety levels kicked up. "Explain!" His grandma yells as she slams the clothes on the table. "I- well-" Victor couldn't speak clearly and kept on stuttering. "Well what? Don't think that could save you now." His grandma cuts him off. "I- i- it was an accident" He tries to explain in a low tone. "Yes, but why would you hide it? You even fooled me that you were okay on your birthday." She asks Victor, feeling deceived. Victor was speechless and was so emotionally tired. "You didn't think I'd notice? How your bike had scratches? The med-kit was missing and you were limping? I even heard you groan in pain!" She shouted out of anger and worry. Victor's eyes were holding up tears. He couldn't take it anymore, so he started weeping. "I'm sorry Lala, I didn't mean to." He apologizes as he wipes his tears. "I just didn't want to make you worry!" He explains further while sobbing. "Victor, you could've just told me. I could've helped you, and besides I'm feeling angry at the fact that you hid something from me." She utters as she pats Victor's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Lala" Victor whispers as he was out of breath from all the crying. He hugs his Grandma tightly and soon they both were settled. They both had lunch together, but neither of them talked to each other. Victor was still feeling scared and Grandma Lala was afraid she overreacted. They both ate in silence. "I'm sorry dear, I didn't mean to react like that." Grandma Lala breaks the silence. "I'm sorry too, Grandma." Victor whisper in a quiet voice as he bowed his head. They both weren't sure what to do, or what to say after that. So they both went through the day without that much communication.
