No longer caged

1009 Words
One day, Victor was so distraught at the fact of his Grandma dying that he ran to the forest, where he found his peace. The forest was still free from people visiting it, and it stayed the same as before. Victor calls the forest his secret place, and if he had the choice, he'd live there. He goes to a place that no one knows about, for it is secluded and hiden. He passes through a small row of vines, bushes and trees to reach his place. The road to get to it is scary, but the beauty of it takes it all away. Victor's place was a small spring of fresh water. He even made a small seating place there with a roof, just so he could relax on his own. He knew this place because of one time that he lost his way. He says he found this treasure while he was lost. This place is also an inspiration for him to hold on. For when he feels lost, he just thinks that he'd find a place of peace if he continues. He sits down and cries, pouring out every pain he has. After a few minutes of crying, he decides, he was going to swim for a bit. Victor knew how to swim, for he lives near the ocean. He took off his jacket and shirt, and left them behind at his sitting place. He then jumped into the clear, fresh and cold waters. It was perfect to quench the heat of the summer, he swam and the waters wiped his tears away. He rises to the surface and gets caught off guard by a girl wearing a white dress staring at him. He shouts in shock and wraps his arms around his upper body. The girl laughed at his reaction. Her smile was pure and her expressions were angelic, and the white dress sure was charming. "It's not like you've never seen another human before right?" She chuckles. "Not like that but why stare at me like a creep?" He replies as he blushes in embarassment. Lol spare the spelling haha "Well, I happened to notice you as I was passing by." She states. "Did you get lost?" He asks in concern "Why? You seem lost too." She brings the question back to Victor. "Sort of..." His tone trails into silence. "We all get a bit lost sometimes." She giggles as she extends her hand to Victor. Victor grabbed her hand. It was new to him that someone other than family offered him help, and this strange feeling filled him. "Why are you here?" Victor asks her as they walk towards Victor's sitting place. "How about you? Why are you here?" She throws the question back to Victor. "This is my secret place. It's where I go when I'm feeling down." He says as he sits at a rock, for the girl was already sitting at the sitting place and he didn't want her to get wet. "So you're feeling down right now?" She asks as she hands Victor his clothes. "If you put it that way..." He pauses as he takes hold on to his clothes. "Yes." He continues looking down. "Why?" The girl asks as she draws her head closer to look at Victor's eyes. Victor then goes on with telling his story as he wears his clothes. He didn't really have anyone to tell his problems to, so this was his chance to let it all out. He explains his fear of happiness and how he is feeling disheartened with the fact that his grandma would die soon. He told her everything, and she patiently listened. "How did you know that bad things happen after you get happy?" She asks as they both sat in the stones. "Well, I don't really know..." He falls quiet once again as he throws some pebbles onto the spring. "Listen here.. Uhm what's your name again?" She raises her brows. "It's Victor." He responds with a smile. "Listen here Victor, you gotta live your life!" She exclaims. "You told me you've been living like this for such a long time now, and I think it's time for you to take your rest." She says with concern on her face. "I know that but how do I live when I fear my tomorrow?" He worries. "Think as if it's the last day to live. You know when you live caged in emotions, you feel like a bird who can't fly..." She points her finger to the fowls flying in the sky. "And most of the time, we make our own cages." He interrupts. They look at each other after hearing Victor's words. Victor was filled with joy for such a long time. He gets up in excitement and shouts. "I'm free! I'm not a caged bird! I have wings to fly!" He yells out with his heart and soul. He felt himself breaking free from the chains of fear and at his side the girl was happily laughing at him and his discovery. "Thank you!" He looks at the girl sitting next to him. She replies with a nice and warm smile. Victor was so light hearted at the fact that he's now back to being himself. He's no longer fearful and he was all smiles. He then remembered his Grandma. He looks at his surroundings and it already seemed dark, so he decided to bid his new friend goodbye. In thought of going home, he forgot his jacket back at his sitting place and he also forgot to ask what his new friend's name was. The girl noticed his jacket and tried to go after him, but the bushes and the vines held her back for too long, that when she got out, Victor was already gone. She looked at his jacket and decided it would be best to give it to Victor when they meet again. She goes back to the place where they first met and folded it there and she soon was gone.
