An illusion

As Victor dozed off to sleep, the white butterfly flew towards him and landed in his temples as he was sleeping sidewards. The butterfly then burst into white sparkly dust, which trickled on Victor's face. The dust quickly vanished in sight, but its effects on Victor's dreams were surprising. Victor was dreaming of such a good dream, yet when the dust vanished, his dream got a bit more interesting. At first he was dreaming of him walking peacefully in the forest, and the forest was familiar for him, as if he had went there already. It was so serene and quiet, he could only hear the flow of the small lake, the birds chirping and the breeze gently blowing the leaves. For Victor, it was one of the best dreams he'd ever have. While Victor was walking in his dream, the butterfly he saw earlier appeared out of nowhere. "Hi there! It seems you're here too." He says to the butterfly is his dream with a happy expression on his face. Of course, the butterfly couldn't possibly reply, just because it is what it is, yet surprisingly, it replied. "Yes of course. I'm your friend right? Friends alaways stick together." The butterfly replied. Victor was so happy, as it was the first time he had someone or some insect to call his friend. They walked along the forest for quite some time, while the summer sun was beating gently. "What is your name by the way? I never seemed to ask." Victor asks as he stops. "Oh, that..." The butterfly stopped for a brief moment of time. Victor was curiosly waiting and he was patient for his new friend. "It's-" the butterfly was about to finish it, but he got woken up by his grandma. He lost his dream, yet again but he was determined to fall back just to finish it. He tried his best to do so, but there was no chance in doing so, as his grandmother was already waking him up. "Victor! Wake up! It's already 9 am, stop sleeping!" His grandma yells as she rolls him around his small bed. "I have to go to the market you know!" She yells louder, making Victor sit up in fright. "Oh good, you're awake now. I gotta go. Watch the house while I'm gone okay?" She continues, but this time in a calmer tone. Victor nods though he was still in a bit of a daze. His grandmother quickly leaves him alone, so he makes his way downstairs. In the kitchen, he found his breakfast: a boiled egg and some pancakes. He quickly gobbles it down as he was hungry. After he had finished eating, he washed the dishes, as Victor is a responsible child. He then swept the floor and took out the trash. He even cleaned the kitchen and their room, surely, Victor knows his responsiblities. After a while, he had finished, but his grandma hasn't returned yet. So, he went back to their backyard to get some fresh air. He got out and the smell of the fresh ocean breeze filled his nostrils. He sat under the big tree and set his head back and relaxed for a bit. A few minutes later, the sound of the front door opening was heard. His grandma had already arrived and she was carrying a lot of food from the market. "Isn't this a bit too much, Lala?" Victor says as he helps carry the bags from his grandma's hands. "For a special occasion? I think not." His grandma said with a smile on her face. "Now help me put these away." She says as Victor was still trying to process what occasion his grandma meant. Nevertheless, he still did as he was told. After he was done helping, he went up again and took a nice warm bath. Unlike the other times, where he was scared, he was rather calm and peaceful this time. It was as if today was a good day for Victor. He wasn't feeling uneasy, but rather feeling light. After he finished taking his shower and changing his clothes, he went down to the kitchen to help his grandma. While he was helping, his Grandma noticed that he was less tense-looking today and that he was in a good state of mind. This made his grandma smile and all her worries about Victor's nervousness disappeared in a jiffy. The time for lunch came and soon it was time to eat again. They had a warm nutritious and filling stew, with some cold beverages on the side. As they were eating, the thought of what occasion was going to happen and why his Grandma bought so much food, struck his mind in a good way. So he decided to ask his Grandma. "Lala, could I ask why you bought so much food?" Curios Victor asked. "Hmm, don't you really remember anything?" She asks with a questioning expression on her face. "Sorry, but I don't." He replies in a bit of a sad tone. "Well, what day is it gonna be tomorrow?" She answers with a slight hint of excitement. "Uh-" Victor stutters as he looks as the calendar posted on the wall. "Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. It's Friday tomorrow Lala" he says with confusion as he doesn't know what's going on. "Look again will you?" His Grandma chuckles. "It's...hmm.. It's- It's my birthday!" He shouts in excitement. His Grandma replies with a laugh as Victor's eyes glowed in excitement. "I'm gonna be eleven years old tomorrow!" He screams in joy. He was so happy he yelled that it's his birthday tomorrow quite a few times and he forgot about eating lunch entirely, luckily for him, his Grandma reminded him to eat. He then went back to eating, yet he was still so energetic he almost swallowed a small chunk of ice in his beverage as he was drinking it. After they'd eaten, Victor went on with his chores, singing a merry tune as he worked. He then spent the whole afternoon day dreaming about his birthday. The day went as smooth as could be, and they were both feeling joyful and grateful at the same time.
